Question about Dryers

Drum won't turn

The drum on my dryer won't turn . It heats up. I took it apart to see if the belt was broken but that isn't the problem. I also cleaned all of the parts there as maintainence. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to tell you the problem is fixed. I ended up taking the drum out and cleaning up in there and making sure the pulley wheels moved freely. I am pleased to say, that as a woman doing this myself, I felt wonderful that the machine worked better than it did before I fixed it.No more having to dry things 2 times. Thanks for your help.

Is the motor driving the belt when on? If the belt is OK and properly routed thru the pulley system, then the motor needs to turn on to move the drum..Your best bet is to provide a brand and model on your next entry so I can assist you on your specific dryer..
Good Luck

Heat is blowing out but the drum is not spining

You broughtke the belt of drum wont turn you might take the dryer apart to make sure the idler pulley is spinning free also. They sometimes get tight and burn the belt up.

The belt could be worn and stretched.

Barrel isn't turning.

I believe you will find the belt is broken.
There is a motor which is supposed to turn a belt, which in turn drives the drum.
If you wish to repair ir yourself, a letter to "Fixya" could cause someone to walk you through the steps.
Be blessed.

Dryer won't spin

Someone is going to have to get inside to see if the belt (it should have one around the drum) is broken or the motor that drives it is seized, etc.

Need to see if drum turns and if too freely my money would be the belt.

I have a whirlpool duet dryer and I can feel the heating element heat up but the drum won't turn any suggestions. Thanks

I had a similar problem with my dryer, if the heatin element is workin but the drum itself isn't turning it is probably a broken belt i the back, it is usually an easy fix and if you have a warranty on your dryer then you could call the maintance and they can fix it fir you covered under you warranty, if not you can usually find the belt at most hardware or appliance shops, and fix it yourself easily. It is located in the panel at the back of your dryer. Hope this helps you some

The dryer hums as if it is going to start turning but the drum isn't turning.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is with the belt that is broken; you can take it apart as shown in this video to replace the belt yourself:

If the belt is fine and the hum is coming from the motor area then the problem is with the motor that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Heat ok but no rotation, if belt broken where it located for kenmore 80 siries

If the dryer is still heating, but the drum does no turn, this is commonly attributed to either a broken drive belt or seized drive motor. Please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate around the door opening), so I can determine how your dryer is configured. All dryers are not assembled the same and will come apart for maintenance depending upon the features provided.

Stackable washer/dryer

hi..
When your dryer drum isn’t turning anymore, it’s usually a broken belt. Tearing the dryer apart is usually straight-forward enough but stringing the new belt on the motor and idler pulley can be tricky. The Complete Encyclopedia of Dryer Belt Configurations shows the belt configurations for almost every dryer brand you can think of.

this will fix ur problem..
thank u rate me

Drum will not turn

YOUR BELT ON YOUR DRYER IS BROKEN. THAT IS WHY YOUR DRUM WON'T SPIN. YOU CAN BUY A NEW BELT FOR YOUR DRYER AT ANY PLACE THAT SELLS APPLIANCES.
