Let's see if we can get it into diagnostic mode and check for any fault codes. Make sure the dryer is in standby mode, plugged in with all the indicators off. Select any button except the PAUSE/CANCEL button. PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS > RELEASE FOR 3 SECONDS > PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS > RELEASE FOR 3 SECONDS > PRESS/HOLD 3 SECONDS. If test mode was entered successfully all indicators will illuminate for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the two digit display. If there are no saved or active fault codes all indicators will momentarily turn off then stay on with 88 in the display. If there are any fault codes, the most recent one will alternately show F- and "XX " where XX is the fault code. and all the cycle indicators will flash. If you can't enter the test mode try a different button. Lets start there.

Will not agitate?

Mmmmm... motor or belt or transmission or control head. If you can hear the motor (whirring sound), then we're down to the transmission or the belt. If not, then we're down to the motor or the control head.

You have to open the whole machine (or get to a place where you can look inside from behind) to check the belt, and you have to get inside the machine to determine whether the motor's getting power from the control head.

Machine does not power up

Hi,

The fuse is located in a little black box underneath the base of the machine, but it is not an easy job to take the box out, disassemble it, replace the fuse, and then reassemble the whole machine. I suggest you take it to a service center.

My E machine 5220 keeps shutting down leaving just the amber light on the front of the tower lit.

eMachines are known to have cheap/bad power supplies.
If you have access to an extra good working supply you can disconnect the power supply from the computer with out removing it (unpluged of course), and connect your good one as a test.
Power supplies are very inexpensive off of sites like Newegg, Pricewatch, etc.

Do this right away.
You don't want a bad power supply to burn out your motherboard, and, or, CPU and end up costing you more to replace.

Also It could be possible something is overheating too and causing the machine to shut down.
Open the side panel and make sure the CPU fan is spinning freely when the power is on.
Some times what happens too is a machine can get so full of dust, dirt, and, or pet hair that the whole CPU fan and heat-sink get blocked so air can flow through and around them.

The number 1 key on our fax machine is stuck and will not spring back up. Do we need to replace the whole keyboard? How much will it cost to replace?

Unplug the power cord.

Try putting a drop or two of isopropyl alcohol or WD-40 down into the stuck key.

Only an authorized brother dealer can install a new keyboard.....$150.00 plus labor.

Washing machine causing power failure in whole

Best answer to this is the circuit outlet is connected to is overloaded < to many items are plugged into it > could be 15-20 watt breaker and usage amounts to more than wattage allowence. If you can lighten the load on circuit by removing things < t.v.,appliances,lights,etc.> from the other outlets that are affected < shutting down when breaker trips > then you can compromise and use washer any time. The other suggestion is to dedicate a breaker to washer, < by adding breaker and wiring to outlet for washer >.

Button Hole Beeping on 7462

Yes frustrating issue this one. I discovered that you need to pull down the retractable button hole guide found behind the needle threader (not visible when you are sitting at the machine).

Hope this helps, happy sewing!!!

Shut down after job complete

I had same problem on a MFC-3820CN Brother advised as follows:

"If the cover is opened during the power-down routine, when putting the machine into Power Save mode using the Power Save key, the LCD will display the message you mention in your email. The problem can be fixed by disconnecting the power cord and then holding down the on/off button while re-connecting the power cord again."

While waiting for brother to get back to me I accidentally put machine into maintainence mode and then when I re-powered up the problem was gone so I have not tried above myself, but can confirm problem is fixable.
