Button battery ex-fh20

I don't believe there is one. I think that like many other cameras, the EX-FH20 has a small built-in rechargeable battery which is charged from the main batteries (the four AAs). If this is the case, that battery is not user-replaceable.

If your camera is losing the date and other settings when the main batteries are removed, try leaving the main batteries in overnight first.

Turn macro mode icon

Try this,
Touch "Menu", then Auto(Macro) and select desire mode.
Auto(Macro) -> camera will adjust focus automatically from distant subject to close-up.
Close Focus on -> Close distant shoot.

Where is the macro setting?

There isn't one. To take macro pictures you can use a macro lens, use extension tubes, use a bellows unit, or use other close-focusing gear. It's the lens that controls how close you can focus, not the camera.

If you'd like any more information, please feel free to ask.

How do you take macro photos

Your lens is the limiting factor to take macro photos, the kit lens provided with you camera won't focus very closely, nor it will have decent magnification. There are special purpose macro lenses which can stretch up to and over $1000 for a decent quality one. Tamron's 90mm f2.8 is probably the best value one.

A tripod will be of benefit too, as it slows down the process, so you think about your composition, use manual focus and a small aperture for better depth of focus (field).

When zooming in for a close shot it will not focus

When using the tele, the closest you can be to a object is probably more that one meter. If you need to get closer you should switch to macro mode.

Super macro

Press the macro button once to get it to display the Macro Mode sign. Press and hold it after that to get it into Super Macro

Once you are in Super Macro, you can't move the lens so you MUST use the Manual Focus (MF) button that is located right above the Macro toggle button. While holding the MF button, use the 4 way directional pad to focus in and out. Press the Up and Down to focus.
You have to be REALLY close for Super mode.. less than about 6 inches

Focusing problems

You may be beyond (up to close) the focal capability of the lens. Even though there is a macro setting, the lens may not have the capability to focus on an object that close (without adding an external macro lens). The specification on the minimal distance for focus should be listed in the owner's manual.

Focus in Macro mode

1. Do not use the zoom while using macro. 2. When clicking the Macro button, click it again, only for 2 more seconds at the second click, it goes to 'Super macro' mode for zero distance. This works in the Canon S3 IS, I hope it will help you in the older S2 IS. 3. Use a tripod. 4. Use the timer for no movement when using a tripod. 5. Try using the manual focus, it does the trick when the camera doesn't focus automatically. Good Luck!
