The operating system is looking for the boot device make sure there are no disks in all drives cd , us and floppy if applicable Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc This will set the boot order. The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible. There is a connection problem such as a bad cable for internal hard drives secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide this will be the first to fail make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty
Make sure the bios is set to to boot from your hard drive.
Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen a certain key to press usually the Delete or F2 to enter setup this may vary depending on your computers bios other possible keys

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart.
