Question about Xerox WorkCentre C2424DN All-In-One Laser Printer

C2424 locking up

Have a c2424 that locks up on multiple copies from adf and when adding paper.when copying using adf machine locks up around the 6th page .everything just stops and buttons dont respond,machine has to be turned off and on .when pulling out paper tray to change paper machine locks ups with paper tray 2 missing.

    do not know what you mean by photoconductor, this machine does not have one

    this machine has version 17.226,the latest is 17.227 but it says only for machines with serial numbers between vvk000001-vvk004517 . this macine is vvk019856 which is out of range.

    adf is the document feeder and machine is a year old with only 300 prints

    today i went back to the machine and got into service mode by turn on maxhine and holding down back and info problem.did not know what to check from there so i just exited diagnostics and did an nvrm clear again.i checked the fault history to see if any faults occurred and the last one was in june which i took care of.it was a 7,010.43 error. today after i did all of this the machine has had no problem.last week i could not make more than 6 copiess using doc feeder without it locking up. i will have to keep an eye on it and see if problem reoccurs.

    I am still having the problem.machine still locks when pulling out tray and when copying from doc feeder.bestdarngood said to download updates.What do you mean by updates and where can i find updates and instructions on how to do it.

That is not a firmware problem, you can run the service menu and reset vram, and you will probably see the problem coming back.

That is a defective key pad and must be replaced.

What is "adf"? how old is the copier? maybe it is just time to buy a new machine.

    you can also try this:

    1. Turn the system power ON.
    2. Wait for the Xerox logo to begin moving across the display.
    3. Before the logo is centered on the display (stops moving), press and hold the Back and Info buttons on the control panel.
    4. Hold both buttons until the display reads “Beginning Service Mode Initialization”. Release the buttons and the system reboots into service mode with the Service Diagnostics menu displayed. You should find it in the function sub menu.

    5. then run a diagnostic and then let me know what happens from that.

Its the problem that your pc requires certain amount of space in the operating system.as that sapace is not available.and your printer is heavy duty printer that requires certain amount of space and that your systyem is not having in it.just delete some unwanted files from the operating system.also delete it from the recycle bin.as you said it gets stopped on the sixth page.just try to print a single line document from the printer.and give more then 6 pages.it will print normally.as printing that documents the printer will not get that load.its just the problem that your operating system is full now and needs to be made empty to make the printer work properly.

The printer inbuilt memory has a problem in it.also try  reloading the printer drivers again and check .many a times this solves the problem. thanks.

You need to download any updates and software available on the xerox website via usb cable that you don't have and the problem should go away. Let me know if you need help finding the right software.

The photoconductor is not working properly . Try removing it and place it once again to check whether it is working properly . Else you need to replace photoconductor .

    1. From the System Setup menu, go to Information --> Troubleshooting -->
    Service Tools menu.
    2. With the cursor at the top of the Service Tools menu, press both the Up Arrow
    and Down Arrow buttons to display the Hidden Service menu.
    3. Reset NVRAM is in there

look inside the printer, some where in or around where the paper feeds from the area there is a piece of paper that is stuck or has ripped off inside the machine, you going have to look with flashlight follow the feed rollers and you will find paper, paper clip, a staple, dirt, something blocking the rollers or feeder from working right.

Cannot print screen shows ADF.what does this mean?


Hi!

ADF stands for Automatic Document Feeder and it means the device mounted on top of your pixma that allows multiple pages to be scanned/copied/faxed one at a time automatically.

Now why does it not print? The machine "believes" some document is inserted in the ADF in order to be scanned/copied/faxed, and wants that operation to be completed before it accept any print job. Please remove, if present, any paper from the ADF. Maybe its only some small piece of broken paper or even dust on the sensor in the ADF.

Unable to use ADF. Red light under start button.


Examine the full paper path of the ADF. Look underneath as well. Could be something as simple as a staple caught deep inside.

Can't work out how to use the multiscan? I press scan and it comes up with multiscan and I put the first piece of paper in but don't seem to get asked for any more sheets and it therefore just scans one...

Put the pages in the "multiscan" all at once, not just one sheet at a time. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will feed one sheet of your document at a time untill all of the pages are scanned...

Copies crooked


make sure back stop and side guides are against all edges of the paper in the drawers, ADF edge guides..same thing. does this happen out of all drawers? if so there is a registration roller (long and usually hard rubber) that has to be pressed evenly across to pull paper straight, usually has springs bent around both ends. If it is not drawers or ADF has to be in the path from drawer but before Fuser (hot area) best bet is reg roller.

hi im jules_09.have you set the paper size first before copying.there is nothing wrong with adf its fine.if you want to use fls go to the program then set the size of the paper and which tray you are going to use each paper tray can be adjusted according to your paper size needs

Copier will not sort documents correctly


Hi songman to sort you need to have the A4 paper in both cassettes one cassette needs to be A4 portrait(wide edge first) and the other needs to be landscape (short edge first)make sure you have the green paper size selector set correctly as well regards Dr Bob1
