Get Firefox :)

Ok, seriously, your laptop should be able to handle all those windows with 3GB of RAM. Try to get it up to that many again so you can see the error, and when that happens, open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). Then click the "processes" tab and click on 'Memory.' Click on it so that it's sorted with the largest numbers at the top. You should be able to see what program is taking up all your memory. I'm not sure if IE would use that much (I use Firefox... 1 window is all I need!) You may have spyware or some unwanted program leeching all of your resources and in that case I would recommend you get some antivirus or antispyware software.

Hi- I can get onto the internet but now strangely I cannot get onto the Shutterfly website. I have IE 8 and Firefox 4. please help!.net

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Sometimes, temporary files in the cache will interfere with web browsing.

In IE 8:
  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the Safety button, and then click Delete Browsing History.

  3. Select the check box next to each category of information you want to delete.

  4. Select the Preserve Favorites website data check box if you do not want to delete the cookies and files associated with websites in your Favorites list.

  5. Click Delete. (This could take awhile if you have a lot of files and history.) Close IE8 and reopen a new window.

  6. In the new window, type the web address to Shutterfly.

In Firefox 4,

How to clear the cache The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
  2. Select the Advanced panel.
  3. Click on the Network tab.
  4. In the Offline Storage section, click Clear Now.

I open ie8 and my yahoo home page comes up. I go to open the mail and as soon as I click the screen starts to flash. This goes on indefinately. Sometimes it is hard to close it out. Sometimes it tries to...

Have you tried to open your Yahoo mail in another browser such as Firefox? If it works in another browser, then it sounds like it may be a problem with an IE plug in. Start IE8 without add ons by going to Start, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No add ons). If it works, then you can narrow down the problem from there. Hope this helps.

I installed 4 Gig of RAM memory but only 3.25 shows up.\r\nis there a test I can run to see if the memory cards are working correctly? Thanks. Paul

It sounds like you are running a 32 bit operating system XP, Vista, or Windows 7 (32).
The 32 bit Operating Systems are only able to see and use about 3Gb of RAM. To use a greater amount you will need a 64 bit OS (either Windows XP/64 or Windows 7/64) or one of the open source 64 bit operating systems.

Windows XP (32 bit) can only recognise about 3GB of RAM. Windows XP (64 bit) can recognise stacks more, as can other 64-bit Operating Systems.

I cannot use 4 gb ram on my laptop

All versions of Windows that are not 64Bit will not display more then 3gb.

Windows XP Pro 64Bit will show 3gb and utilize 4gb if your system is physically capable (Consult your owners manual)

If you have Vista 64Bit and still do not show your 4gb, then there could be an issue with your ram, or as previously mentioned, your system can not support it.

To check which version you have press and hold the Windows key and press the pause key.

I am not able to uninstall MS IE 8, it is not listed in the uninstall list of programs. The browser works sometimes but is not dependable

To remove the installed MS IE, just open the control panel (click Start, select Control Panel), choose Add/Remove Windows Components (left panel), unclick the check mark on the Internet Explorer box and click next until finished.
