keeps falling over. it not making no connection.cannot pick up any
thing.i think connection is broke on the inside.i am a woman and
do not know alot.any thing cheap that can fix it.or would it be worth
It sounds like you are right. While you may not be mechanically inclined, you can easily open the scanner to see what is wrong. Unplug it from the wall and turn it over, so that the bottom is facing up. Remove all of the screws you can see. A regular sized phillips screwdriver should do fine for this. If you have removed all the screws you can see, there may be some below the rubber feet on the bottom of the scanner. You can peel these off with a flat screwdriver. Once you have the screws out, gently remove the bottom panel. From here you likely will be able to see the antenna connector. Is the connector just separated from the board, or is the board cracked? If it is just separated, it can probably be soldered back into place. If the board is cracked, it may not be worth repairing.
Now for the fun part...if it looks like the connector just separated from the board, it needs to be soldered back onto the board. If you feel like you want to do it yourself, there are a ton of tutorials and videos on the internet on how to solder electronics. The iron you need will be in the 25 watt range, and can be found at Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics, or probably even a hardware store.
If you're not feeling super adventurous, there are probably many resources that can help you with this. Any TV or radio repair shop (the old style Mom and Pop ones--not Best Buy or the major chains) should be able to do it. If you cannot find one in your area, you may be able to find an amateur radio group in your area who may be able to point you in the right direction. Heck, they may even be able to fix it for you.
Good luck, and I hope this information helps get your scanner up and running in no time!
