I have a 61h71 tv and recently it to moved to the basement. Somehow I have developed what looks like a scratch behind the screen protector in the upper left hand corner. This scratch can be seen when set is off or on and must be in the lenticular or fresnel screen. I have removed the entire screen and the internal screen has no marks and the screen protector is spotless any ideas??
The mark starts about 2 inches from the top goes down a couple of inches and hooks to the right I have a photo if that would help. The mark starts about 2 inches from the top goes down a couple of inches and hooks to the right I have a photo if that would help.
the dashed part of the line is a vibration scratch, you must look very carfully at the area that it is in , has the protector screen been taken off to clean it in there before ?

you do not have a protection screen on the front , do you ? does the front feel like there is ridges in it ?
it looks like a scratch across those ridges on the screen( can be very hard to see on the screen when looking at it in certain angles and lighting)you do not have a protection screen on the front , do you ? does the front feel like there is ridges in it ?

Is that a straight vertical line going down two inches then hooking to the right at the bottom, or going down 2 inches while gradually hooking to the right?
A picture would probably help!Is that a straight vertical line going down two inches then hooking to the right at the bottom, or going down 2 inches while gradually hooking to the right?

By the looks of that picture, it's hard for me to believe that the scratch is not on the outside of the protective plexiglass screen. However, you can remove the protective screen w/o negative effect of the picture. In fact, it will probably reduce the glare from light on the screen. If, in fact, the scratch is still seen w/o the protective screen installed, then it is the lenticular screen that is scratched.
The lenticular screen is the one with the vertical grooves from top to bottom in it. The fresnal is the back screen that appears to have been lathed in a circular pattern.

A Reddish tint means that the Green signal is missing. Does the on screen menu look normal? If so, this points to the signal source. The fact that this happend suddenly, I would check your cables first.
Using YUV?
If the TV's Menu also looks reddish then there is an internal problem with the display.
Good luck
well i moved my machine a little bit and tried to look behind .there was a water hose at the rear of the appliance which got bent somehow .i just opened the bend and the appliance was back to normal.
u can buy new screen toshbia.com tv parts sears.com tv parts cost i have replace 1 before screen 300 bucks be very careful glass extremly thin thin will crack good luck
You must determine whether or not the scratch is on a protective fromt screen or the panel itself. I don't know your specific model, but some of the LGs have a front glass behind which is the actual panel. If that is the case with yours, you can replace the front glass. If it is only the panel, then there is no way to repair other than replacing the panel which is VERY expensive.
If you wish to try something, go to a local auto parts store and purchase a windshield repair kit. This will contain an optically transparent epoxy that can fill in the scratch and make it at least less noticable similar to filling a scratch or crack on a windshield.
removal of the screen on this unit is not to difficult. to remove the screen you will need a t20 bit. the torx 20 screws on the back side of screen then the torx screws on front panel. be carefull that screen is easy scratched.
Hi there!
I would simply replace the plastic sheeting. Will certainly be cheaper than replacing a tube. Glass tvs don't normally come with this plastic so leave it off if you can remove it. There is a type of spray on the market for this purpose, just don't know if available in your country. Please note: It is dangerous to use a tv which had been scratched beyond 1.5mm, The glass may become unstable and implode if bumped by accident. Good Luck,JUS004
you can try toothpaste. use on the scratched areas in a circular motion for around 5 minutes. This can reduce, and remove scratches from plastic, and even glass. Wipe of with a clean soft fabric or tissue paper lightly moistened.
Another solution is scratch-out. Which is used to repair spiderweb scratches in the clearcoat on automobiles. This is a polymer coating on cars. Your screen is also a polymer. follow the directions carefully, and don't get too aggressive with it. If it doesn't work, what you lost?
The poster above is obviously inexperienced with this type of thing.

Sounds like separation in the fresnal screen.
