Question about Samsung HLN4365W 43" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Samsung HLN4365W picture not centered

I've tested all the inputs and the screen is shifted horizontally left about 1 to 1.5 inches, the vertical position is fine. I checked all the settings and have found no picture adjustment. I have had the set apart to replace the lamp and colorwheel over a year ago. Not sure when the issue started but just noticed it recently.

    I found the menu and the following options are available;
    1. DDP1010 (ALL)
    2. DNIe (ALL)
    3. AD9883 (Component/480P)
    4. 3D_COMB (ALL)
    5. OPTION

    Three options are grayed out and I have looked under all the menu's and haven't seen something that resembles vertical or horizontal adjustment. Plus with the screen being black how can I see if the adjustment I make is correct?

    I found the horizontal adjustment under the DDP1010 menu, it was listed as Pos-X.

    i also turned on the DVD player then did the mute 1 8 2 power and the menu came up with the DVD in the background. so I was able to see the picture move. not to mention I had it set on wide instead of normal. once in normal I adjusted the screen from 152 down to 103. I checked with a tape measure and got the screen pretty much centered.

Turn the tv off, hit mute 1 8 2 power, the tv will come on in the service menue, look in that menue for vertival and horizontal adjust, after you adjust it, just turn the tv back off, it will save your changes

Any idea on what is causing these issues with Vizio TV? Black lines horizontal, shadow vertical.

Touch the input pin of the vertical IC, by the blade of the screwdriver, and see whether there is a tendency to change with width of the horizontal line on screen. If so, check and replace the horizontal, video if, vertical oscillator jungle IC. Check the frequency to the input of the vertical scan IC, with a frequency meter. If there is frequency, and still no vertical scan output, check the yoke connection, and make sure that it has no open circuit. This is for a Ricoh copier. You did not indicate machine.

The LD unit home position sensor does not detect an on condition while changing the LD unit position for correcting the LD position or changing the DPI.

5.4.3 LASER BEAM PITCH ADJUSTMENT
There are two laser beam pitch adjustment procedures: one for 400 dpi, and one
for 600 dpi. These adjustments use the following SP modes.
· SP2-109-1: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-2: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 600 dpi
· SP2-109-3: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-4: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 600 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.12: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 400 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.13: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 600 dpi

1. Perform SP2-109-8 (Beam Pitch Data Reset).

2. Input the value for 400 dpi that is printed on the LD unit into SP2-109-1.
Use the value printed after "P" on the new LD unit as shown below.
NOTE: Do not use values printed after a "V".

(These value numbers are on a sticker inside the machine with a UPC code on it. The numbers are just under the UPC barcode. And example number looks like this: "15980300151P: 120, 172", so the example 400 dpi value here is "120".)

3. Press the "Enter" key.

4. Perform SP2-109-3.

5. Print the 400-dpi test pattern onto A3 (11"x17") paper using SP2-902-2 no.12
(cross stitch). (See Service Tables - Test Pattern Printing - Section 4.2.3, pasted below.)

6. Write the value of SP2-109-1 on the test pattern which was input at step 2.

7. Change the value of SP2-109-1 and print another test pattern, repeating steps
2 to 5. Print about 5 patterns with different values for SP2-109-1 (e.g. "48", "96",
"192", "240").

8. Check this test pattern. If the laser beam pitch is not correct, the image looks
like a black vertical stripe pattern.
NOTE: If the laser beam pitch is correct, the vertical stripe is not so noticeable.
If the value is not correct, the vertical stripe pattern is darker.

9. Adjust the laser beam pitch position until the thin lines are of uniform thickness
(no striping effect should appear on the printout), doing steps 2, 3, and 4. (In
step 2, input a value which is estimated to be correct, then do steps 3 and 4,
then if necessary go back to step 2 and try another value.)

10. After adjusting the laser beam pitch for 400 dpi, adjust the laser beam pitch for
600 dpi, using the same procedure as for 400 dpi (use the SP modes for 600
dpi).

4.2.3 TEST PATTERN PRINTING (SP2-902)
NOTE: Do not operate the machine until the test pattern is printed out completely.
Otherwise, an SC may occur.

1. Access the SP mode which contains the test pattern you need.

2. Press exit, then touch the "Copy Mode" key on the operation panel to access
the copy mode display.

3. Select the paper size.

4. Press the "Start" key to print the test pattern.

5. After checking the test pattern, exit copy mode by touching the "SP Mode" key.
Reset the test pattern to 0.

6. Exit the SP mode.

These adjusments listed in the manual require removal of a service panel and mechanical adjustment of the laser mounts, so it should be done by a qualified technician.

However, these test procedures can indicate whether or not this is the problem with your printer.

Half screen


Hello xmen0614,

If the screen is halved in a horizontal fashion meaning that the screen only goes up half way this is an indication of a vertical deflection problem, quite possibly the vertical coupling capacitor or a problem with the vertical drive signal. If the TV is halved vertically meaning the either the left or right side of the TV is black while the other has picture, this could mean a problem with the damper diode, the Horizontal output Transistor, or the horizontal drive signal.

In either case I would suggest doing a ring test on the Yoke Transformer, The IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer).
Also check the Vertical coupling capacitor, and the horizontal drive transformer (Ring test this).

You noticed that I included the Vertical and Horizontal sections? This is because you did not mention which direction your screen was halved in.

If it is halved to to bottom check the vertical circuitry, If it is halved left to right check the horizontal circuitry. For either one do a ring test on the Yoke Transformer.

4.12 PC Input Picture Adjustment
The Picture Adjust menu operates in the same
way for the PC Input as for the DTV / TV input in
section 4.2 for Backlight, Contrast, Brightness and
Color Temperature.
4.12.1 Auto Adjust
When the MENU button is pressed, the On Screen
Display (OSD) appears on the PICTURE ADJUST
page. Press the button to highlight the Auto
Adjust selection.
Press the button for the LCD HDTV to adjust to
the PC signal timing automatically.

4.14.1 Understanding Viewing Features
Your LCD HDTV features four viewing modes and Picture-In-Picture (PIP)/Picture-by-Picture (POP) mode.
You can switch viewing modes using the remote control.
4.14.2 Viewing Modes
Normal Mode
The original 4:3 aspect ratio (1.33:1 source) is preserved, so black bars are
added to the left and right of the display image. Standard TV broadcasts are
displayed with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Movies in 4:3 Aspect Ratio may be referred
to as pan-and-scan or full frame. These movies were originally filmed in 16:9
(widescreen), and then modified to fit a traditional TV screen (4:3).
Wide Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full-frame movie in this mode,
the display image is stretched proportionately to fill the TV screen.
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1 source) program or movie, the
display image fills the TV screen. If you are watching a widescreen
(1.85:1 or 2.35:1 source) program or movie, there will still be black
bars at the top and bottom.
Zoom Mode
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1, 1.85:1, or 2.35:1 source)
program or movie, the display image is zoomed proportionally to fill the
width of the screen. The top and bottom are cut off to remove most of
the source material’s black bars. This mode is good for programs or
movies with sub-titles.
Panoramic Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full frame movie in this mode,
the 4:3 Aspect Ratio (1.33:1 source) display image is stretched
horizontally on the left and right sides to fill the TV screen. The center
of the image is not stretched.

Note: Viewing modes are saved based on input. For example, you lasted watched a DVD in widescreen
mode and then watched TV in standard mode. When you switch back to DVD input, the viewing mode
will return to widescreen.

Flickering multi-colored line in the middle of the screen.


You have a failure in the vertical deflection circuit. This could be either a bad vertical chip, the power supply that runs the chip or a bad capacitor in that circuit. This is usually a repair best left to a professional. There is a small possibility that it could be bad solder connections. If genlty tapping the unit temporarily solves the issue you can try and resolder the pins on the vertical chip LA7841 is the part number. There is also a resistor 1 ohm 1 watt. If that resistor is open you can assume the IC is bad

Try changing the H/V position in the TV Set Up menu. You can adjust the horizontal and vertical position of the screen and move it enough that the green line disappears from the screen.

Weird TV


the audio is perfect, but the screen vertically squeezes to about a quarter of an inch and stays horizontally regular. it is due to vertical section of your tv has failed. it is a common problem if you are not a tech person call tech to fix it. solution 1 check vertical section supply. 2 check components in vrtical output stage. 3 check vertical output ic. 4 loose contact in vertical section it is not a major ptoblem. good luck.
