My VCR won't work when I push play. It shows the blue screen just goes black when I push play.

It sounds like it is working, and you just weren't recording a signal. Try playing a prerecorded tape.

A VCR will not record HDTV signals. You can only record normal digital signals. If you wish to record HDTV channels you should look at Blue Ray Recorders.

This unit does not have a tuner to receive TV broadcasting. If you have the owners manual on page 26 it explains this. If you do not have the manual here is a link to one.

the blue is usually the video, chances are you have no channels tuned into it or its on an av channel. anyway put a tape in and press play.(assuming you have av1 connected to tv by scart lead) failing that try wriggling the scat in the back of the vcr while on play---failing that tune it to an analogue station on the tv via the ariel (rf) leads

Tv monitor turns blue during forward or reverse vcr search

On some TV's the screen will go blue if there is not a strong, solid video signal present. This is to prevent the showing of very snowy or all snow channels, or garbled, mixed-up external video signals. This is normal. On some VCR's the video signal changes when the FF or REW search feature is used, and this could trigger the TV to go to blue screen. The only way around this if you can enter the TV's menu and turn off the blue screen feature.
