PC Recovery and Piracy Do you sell a downlaodable - abstand_10423.gif abstand_10383.gif MEDION strongly supports efforts within the software industry to combat piracy, as it helps ensure that customers may confidently buy legal software.
When you acquired your new MEDION PC, MEDION provided you with an option that can be used if you need to recover the genuine Microsoft® operating system that has been preinstalled on your machine.

All of the recovery solutions will address the extremely rare instances of failure due to operating system file corruption or modification or hardware failure. In no way do these options limit your ability to add or remove new hardware and software to your PC, or limit your ability to make a backup copy of the operating system.

The recovery media options that MEDION provides for our variety of products are:

CD Media − which are often called "recovery CDs". This is a CD or DVD clearly marked with the PC Manufacturer's brand that can only be used on the PC you purchased. The media will be included as part of the materials you received at the time of purchase and will include all files necessary to restore the operating system on the PC.

Hard Drive-based Recovery System − Recovery files are placed on a separate partition of the hard drive that can be accessed if system recovery is needed. No CDs are needed and in most cases the PC can "heal" itself.

No Media − the PC does not include a recovery solution. In the event of a recovery situation, please contact the PC Manufacturer.

All MEDION computers that are preinstalled with a genuine Microsoft Windows operating system will have a Certificate of Authenticity attached to the PC chassis. For more details please click here.

If you have questions about the systems recovery option that is available with you machine, please contact: MEDION UK

No sound on my computer also got virus

Most issues like this are caused by a virus (as you seem to indicate is the issue) or bad drivers. Most of these problems can be fixed quickly and painlessly using a System Restore in Safe Mode. If you can boot the computer, tap F8 during the boot. Select to run in Safe Mode, and when Windows XP is loaded, locate System Restore.
1. Click Start. 2. Type in Help and Support. 3. Type 'System Restore' in the search box. 4. Select System Restore and choose to revert to a restore point prior to your problems!
A system restore will keep all of your personal files and documents in tact, so there's no harm in going back as far as needed (though some software installations may be affected). Best of luck!

Hi.

If she did not format the hard disk, then the Windows XP startup option will be present in boot option. When computer startup you will get a choice like this:

1 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition.
2 Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

In that case you can restore XP, starting on XP and editing the file winboot.ini, that is an hidden system file located on C:/ drive.

See:How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP.

If instead Windows XP does not start, or if you do not get the boot option, that means that Windows XP system file had been deleted.

In that case the only way to get back Windows XP is reinstalling the system from scrap, using a Windows XP install disk, and the number listed on the licence sticker.

Regards.

I need to restore xp home edition but cant find cd have product key numbers emachines 330

You should be able to reinstall from another XP Home Edition OEM CD so if you know someone who has a computer which came with XP Home Edition preinstalled you should be able to use their Cd, you'll still have to download the drivers for your pc though.

About settings on my computer

you can try to restore it to an earlier time before you started adjusted the registration files. Go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools> system restore and choose a date before you started adjusting the files. The computer will restore and reboot. If this does not help you resolve the regedit.exe problem then I suggest booting from cd rom and selecting Repair. This will restore any windows files that has been corrupted or deleted.

I hope this helps
