PC Recovery and Piracy Do you sell a downlaodable - abstand_10423.gif abstand_10383.gif MEDION strongly supports efforts within the software industry to combat piracy, as it helps ensure that customers may confidently buy legal software.
When you acquired your new MEDION PC, MEDION provided you with an option that can be used if you need to recover the genuine Microsoft® operating system that has been preinstalled on your machine.

All of the recovery solutions will address the extremely rare instances of failure due to operating system file corruption or modification or hardware failure. In no way do these options limit your ability to add or remove new hardware and software to your PC, or limit your ability to make a backup copy of the operating system.

The recovery media options that MEDION provides for our variety of products are:

CD Media − which are often called "recovery CDs". This is a CD or DVD clearly marked with the PC Manufacturer's brand that can only be used on the PC you purchased. The media will be included as part of the materials you received at the time of purchase and will include all files necessary to restore the operating system on the PC.

Hard Drive-based Recovery System − Recovery files are placed on a separate partition of the hard drive that can be accessed if system recovery is needed. No CDs are needed and in most cases the PC can "heal" itself.

No Media − the PC does not include a recovery solution. In the event of a recovery situation, please contact the PC Manufacturer.

All MEDION computers that are preinstalled with a genuine Microsoft Windows operating system will have a Certificate of Authenticity attached to the PC chassis.For more details please click here.

If you have questions about the systems recovery option that is available with you machine, please contact: MEDION UK

Running Windows XP Home Edition Error code

The diags code was a failed response from the floppy drive. Most system didn't ship with one.

Boot to the XP CD, go to recovery console, run bootcfg /rebuild

I need to restore xp home edition but cant find cd have product key numbers emachines 330

You should be able to reinstall from another XP Home Edition OEM CD so if you know someone who has a computer which came with XP Home Edition preinstalled you should be able to use their Cd, you'll still have to download the drivers for your pc though.

Cannot boot due to missing or corrupt configsys. I did not get the XP home edition CD with my system so I cannot run the repair.

First Option
Build a bootable CD and then perform:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

If not possible, PC manufacturers like DELL and HP have recovery partation. I presume it is a DELL.

Second Option
Start the computer and start tapping Ctrl and F11 function key togather. a screen will popup for recovering the entire system. Follow instructions.

Also there will be data loss in doing this step. I would advise perform first option

System properties, xp pro

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type this in the run box: c:\Windows\System32\oeminfo.ini
Something like this should open in notebook:
[Version]
Microsoft Windows Whistler Edition
WinVer=5.01
[General]
Manufacturer=vpr Matrix ™
Model=Personal Computer
SupportURL=http://matrixsupport.net
LocalFile=c:\matrixsupport\file.html
[Support Information]
Line1=”Visit us online or call our toll-free Customer Support number 24/7!”
Line2=”http://www.vprmatrix.com”
Line3=”cb_transparent_l.gifus.gifspace.gifspace.gifarrow.gifspace.gifspace.gifspace.gifspace.gifspace.gifspace.gifspace.gif(800)332-4800cb_transparent_r.gif in the USA and Canada.”
Line4=”"
Although I wouldn’t play with anything under the version section, you can edit the information in the other sections. You can edit anything to the right of the = sign.
Save it before you exit notepad and you’ll be set.
You can also edit the bitmap that will be displayed on this screen by changing this file:
c:\Windows\System32\oemlogo.bmp
It must be 172 X 172 pixels in size.

Seems like you will need to get your hands on a restore disk or windows installation cd for the version you have.

You will need to either restore the computer to the original state or install a fresh installation of windows from the setup cd, after that you need to get the drivers for the computer from medion support.

Windows XP Home Edition - No Drivers.

vswright is right, you have to make a restore disk when you are happy that that system is running properly (this called system back up and restore) go to the HP support website (HP now own Compaq)
and enter the make and model of the pc and download the device drivers you need, if you experience any problems, get back to us

Windows xp home edition reinstall

If you use his disk, that will be better, because if it is original HP disk, it should install all original drivers at all, however this may delete all files on the computer depending on the type of installation you do.

Installing an older version of XP home does not make a big difference , as windows will update the system using automatic updates. What must be done, is ensuring that all proper drivers are installed.

Check device manager, in control panel/system, and see if all devices are installed with proper drivers.
