in your taskbar see if internet connection shows if it does right click then wireless connections if you see any connections in that page highlight then click connect

if no connections show in the same page on left side click refresh network list once you have one showing highlight it then click connect

you may need to do this a few times before one will show in the list

BEFORE VISTA WAS YOUR INTERNET WORKING

do you have an icon in the taskbar if so right click then click wireless connections see if any show

    highlight then click connect

if none show click refresh network list you may need to do this a few times once one shows highlight click connect do this and let me know what happens

do you have a ethernet cable that you can plug into the laptop and then router or modem

don't plug it in I am just asking

  • DEKR
    DEKR Jan 14, 2009

okay you will need to unplug that it must just be your settings

after unplugged go through the steps by right clickin icon for internet in taskbar then wireless connections when you see one click it then connect if none there continue to refresh network list until you see one but you must have the ethernet unplugged from laptop to do this

if this does'nt work we can try another solution

look at the top of your see what keys or buttons are there

you will probably find one sometimes there on the front or side of laptop

you can also go to control panel add new hardware then next

scroll till you find network then click and ask it to find hardware automatically

it may just be that the wireless driver is not installed

do you have a cd for your wireless

Ibm thinkpad r31 windows vista video drivers

The OS will ,USUALLY, apply a generic driver to the Graphics Adapter, and most essential components. Not always, but usually, when it boots the first thing you do is Windows Updates. You may have problems with some hardware when doing a OS upgrade. It can be tricky. If, say, you jump from XP to 7, you may be able to use vista drivers. Your in luck, on the ThinkPad R31 support website Vista and Win 7 drivers are available, SEE: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT072387 Go with Win 7, if you have that option.

Hello i re installed my windows 7 on my IBM R52 laptop and the unknown device, and video controller...

I can tell you 7 is def not supported in the R52 as its the Pentium M with 2GB max ram, but generally vista drivers are compatible with 7 (although I had a heck of a time finding compatible drivers for my g/f Dell Inspiron when I ripped Vista off and went back to XP on it). Try Windows Update first, but if its not downloading drivers for those devices your going to have to go through the components and try and find Win7/Vista compatible drivers for your Thinkpad:

This is Lenovo's page on the R52, some of the drivers say Vista:

T41 win 7 video

You maybe able to get the video driver from IBM/Lenovo WEB site.

The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it’s file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).
