Can not look at any internet pages

HI,
when I try to connect to the internet with dial up it does connect but then when I try to bring up any internet page I get a error. - it says it can not be displayed and that a cable is disconnected - I can not find any disconnected cables. Last night it said something about the Enthernet cable??? I have used this way of logging on for about a year - why would this cable just disconnect and how do I reconnect this problem??

It does not mean that the cable is disconnected what you have to do after doing an install of windows is go back and update all your drivers again so this is most likely a driver issue. Do you connect through dial-up or through a network because both have their own seperate issues. But here is a driver page so you can update either one and we can go from there. This is the only thing i can find that is free and might help

My internet is connected but whenever I log on to the Internet is says that "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I've tried everything. Please Help!

Make sure to run a malware and virus scan, once that is done, go to the browser and bring up the home page, don't worry that is does not connect just bring the page up. Now over to the right, click on the "tools" drop down menu. Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Internet Tools". Now click on the "Connections" tab. At the bottom of the page click on the LAN setting Button. Make sure everything on that page is unchecked, except for the first box that is "automatically detect settings", that one can be checked. Click OK and then apply and then OK and exit out of the page.

Is this your home internet or are you connecting through your business internet? When is the last time you were able to connect? try going to other facebook pages by googling it first. May also just be an issue that will be solved in a little time.

Getting my internet explorer to work?

Hi

Thank you for your query

The reason that you are getting this message is because internet explorer (IE) is looking at your LAN connection as the default connection.

to change this and to point it towards your dial up please do the following

1) click Start>Control Panel>Internet Options
2) In the internet options window click on the tab that says connections
3) half way down the page there will be a option that says 'always dial my default connection' put a dot in that box
4) Click apply/OK and next time you click on IE your dial up box will come up andask you to connect

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank you again

My wifes laptop is trying to use DUN instead of network cable

Open up Internet Options (from the Tools menu in IE or right-clicking the desktop icon and selecting Properties, or through the Control Panel). On the Connections tab, select 'Never dial a connection.' When you want to connect to your ISP you will be required to manually start the dial-up connection.

Can't get to the internet

Go to start menu , open up your control panel, then select internet options. It should bring up a window that says GENERAL at the top left. Inside the window type the website you would like as your homepage.eg. www.yahoo.com. That means when you log on to internet it will open to that page. Then at top select tab that says CONNECTIONS. In the window below you should see your previous dial up service provider listed. Highlight each if more than one then to the left select REMOVE, it will ask if you want to remove select yes. Continue with this process until window is completely empty. Then go below on same page select tab that says LAN settings. Click on this tab then you should see two options at top. Check the one that says AUTOMATICALLY detect settings, Then hit ok at bottom. Close out the window. then attempt the log on by just clicking on Internet Explorer. It should bring up your homepage.

Wont go to websites when Itype words- only accepts numbers

Open Internet Explorer, under the tools tab, select "Internet options". Once there, select the "Connections" tab. At the top you will see, "To setup and Internet connection, click "Setup", click on "Setup", once there, click "next", On the next page, make sure "connect to the internet" is selected and click next. On the next page click, "Setup my connection manually", click next. On the next page select(Make sure it reads exactly as follows), "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on", click next. On the next page, click "finish". That should do it.
