I recently purchased an Xbox that came with four games. 3 of the games work but the fourth, Indigo Prophecy, won't. Whenever I place it into the Xbox I get a few short noises, then the Xbox screen goes away to be replace by a message that says "There's a problem with the disc you're using It may be dirty or damadged". What can I do to fix the disc at home? I found this site on the internet http://www.cd-repair.co.uk/How_to_repair_a_CD_DVD_or_PlayStation_disk.html but I want to know if that will help before I start applying household chemicals to the disc.

Re: Xbox disk Indigo Prophecy can't be read by Xbox.
Not really, but you never know. When some games do not seem to work it could be the game itself or when using an older unit it is possible that the laser eye has gotten weak an would need to be adjusted. This is an a t home job if you want it. the adjustment screw is located under the drive assembly and caution should be used when disassembling the unit. If you do try it please note that you only want to turn about three to ten degress counter clockwise testing it after each adjustment with a known good disk. Good Luck and let me know what happen.

What disc? a game? ...... If it is a game disc, (I found after many hours of usual research), that when you purchase xbox games New and Used, you need to make sure they were manufactured in the correct Region, ie: Country or origin of the USA. If the disc is from a different region you will constantly have issues with xbox reading the disks....Funny they don't tell you that, and I found this out after purchasing a used game off of amazon and spending more time trying to get the xbox to read the disk than I did playing the game.
First Turn your X-box on
Second Take out your game or CD
Third Open tray
Fourth Close tray
Fifth Repeat Third and Fourth a couple times and let it load then open
Sixth Stop when you hear the xbox make a spinning noise like when it is reading a game
Seventh Open tray
Eighth Pit a game in
Ninth Close tray
Tenth Play you game!
HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.
You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more.
Hi! This is a very rare problem. I personally don't know how to fix it but if you have purchased your XBOX 360 in the last 3 years you will have free warranty on it. You may call Microsoft and they will help you troubleshoot and solve/fix your problem. They will explain how the process works once you call. Here is their number:
my ps3 worked fine util i installed the 2.10 version update, and then it quit reading games [blu ray movies and regular dvd's would still play] i called sony and the guy told me to restore system setttings and install version 2.20. after i installed this version from their website my ps3 would not read anything. if you still have proof of purchase sony will send you a refurb. but my guess is after you install the same version again you will still be sol and after your 1 year warranty is up sony will not have any else to do with you[xbox offers a lifetime warranty] now i have an xbox360 and a $700 freaking paper weight. THANKS SONY!!!
