when you got the cam it should have come with a disk, on that disk is a software for your cam. Install it and you can make video clips and email them. as for gmail, no you won't be able to video chat directly, but you can on yahoo messenger and msn messenger. just install yahoo messenger and when you are in a chat window there is a camera icon near where your photo is. click on it and it will launch your cam and send an invitation the the other party and they will see your cam.
No there is no compatibility issue. But you cannot use cams simultaneously on 2 messenger. Make sure that when you using it in Yahoo messenger than msn is totally shut off. Try this it should help you.

It's not a driver problem based on the fact it works with other applications. Since it won't work with Messenger my strong suspicion is that's your culprit (Messenger)....even though it worked before.
Uninstall and try it again. When you uninstall make sure you delete any folders found in "Widows Explorer" that are under program files (not in Windows itself....or at least not at this point). Make sure you are using the latest version by the way since you are going to install it again anyway.
As to why it did not work you might want to check the Microsoft knowledge base...(there can be some sort of a conflict particularly if you updated software, downloaded patches, installed a new application, whatever).
If this doesn't work...run your antivirus and Spybot search and destroy on the entire drive. If you are not running an antivirus AVAST or AVG are both excellent (and free as is Spybot.)
Let me know if this does not work....odds are it will. Tango
