I have a Mitsubishi 7085. Worked fine until yesterday. Now only responds to volume up/down but no other commands (won't turn off, change input, etc.). HELP!!

    Already tried that. Thanks!

  • nittamd Jan 07, 2009

Unfortunately, the TV is built in (and 3 feet off the ground) and I tried to access the power cord but couldn't. If I get a service tech out, is there a way they can turn the power off without having to remove the TV?

  • nittamd Jan 07, 2009

Yes I tried changing batteries and also tried another remote (the directv universal remote) and only the volume worked on that also!

  • nittamd Jan 07, 2009

OMG, I can't believe I didn't think of the main power! Thank you! Now, if the TV still won't respond to on/off etc, then what?

Assuming there's nothing blocking the sensor on the tv, and manually turning the tv off and on works, Check for other items that may be causing interference. Also if you have a multi-function remote make sure you've pressed the "TV" button before using the control to adjust functions.
I think you have some good comments posted, reseting the code etc. One of these things is sure to work. Doubtful your tv is the problem more likely if anything you need a new remote or have a key sticking.

Let me know if this helps

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, let's try the basics:

  • instead of unplug, how about switching off the breakers for the outlet used by the TV;
  • you may want to check if there are any stuck buttons on the front control panel of the TV;
  • incidentally, was the remote played with inadvertently or was there something out of the ordinary such as a power failure prior to this problem?
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Does It Respond Through The Buttons On The Set? It Sounds Like Your Remote Is In Dvd/Cable/ Mode I'm Sure You've Tried But Try Hitting T.v On The Remote Then Try Channel Up Down.

Another Thing To Try There Is A Reset On The Front Of The T.v Press And Hold It For 30 Second And Then Release. You'll Need A Small Pin Or Paper Clip. Then Check For Functions Again.

HI

You need to press the middle power key in the av1 or av2 device. The TV ON & OFF keys are strictly for TV codes programmed to the TV device, in your case there is none. And anyways there are many brands of Tv's with preset TV device codes, and the Tv ON & OFF still don't work. A big name like Panasonic, none of its codes have preset commands to the ON & OFF key. Oh and you're welcome

If Your Remote Control Cannot Find a Working
Three-Digit Code in the Tables (Scanning)
If you try to program your remote control using the three-digit codes, and the
remote control does not work correctly, you may be able to find a code that works
    by using the "scanning" process.
    1. Turn on the component (TV or the VCR), for which you plan to program the
    remote.
    2. Press the TV key (or VCR key) for at least three seconds or until the LED
    blinks.
    3. The following steps explain how to "scan" through the TV (or VCR) codes

Samsung plasma won't turn on

Here's is what you need to look for when describing a problem for troubleshooting purposes:

0) What model is the TV (you've covered that)

1) Does the TV respond to command to turn on?
(yes - continue; no - 70% bad power, 30% bad main board)

2) Once it responds (clicks), does a front LED or other indication show that it turns on? It's OK if there's no display.

(that can be model specific and is not certain indication for anything until known what is specific for the model)

3) If such an indication comes up does it remain on until you act or does it go off by itself?
(Stays on - power supply likely good; turns off - power supply *may* be good, but not certain)

4) If the power indication stays on by itself can you make it go off by pressing the power button or do you have to disconnect from AC power?
(responds to power off - 90% power supply likely OK and 90% OK main board; does not respond to power off - 90% bad main board)

Here is a link for test/repair of the power supply of your TV, hope it would help:

I will assume you tried to unplug the set and plug it back in.

If you are using a sat or cable box connected to the cable fitting on the set try connection from the AV jacks to one of the video inputs on the set.

If set does it via the rear jacks it is likely the box and not the set.

Turns on, but buttons don't respond.

If you have a remote, just press down on the volume up button and roll it around in circles. It sounds stuck and that sometimes will help unstick it.Also do it on the TV's button. If that doesn't work please let me know and we'll try something else.Good luck!

Tv ws-65511 volume stuck

Did you ever get this problem fixed? Ours just started doing the same thing. It worked fine the night before, but today it's doing what yours is doing. The remote stopped working for the TV. The remote still works for the cable box, but volume and anything related to TV function not. The screen flashes when we try to adjust volume or anything else, but resets to previous volume. TV not responding to any commands either on the front panel or remote.
Any ideas? Thanks, Patti
