Re: A/C does not properly cool.

Possible faulty run capacitor or overload protector. Call a repairman.

Portable A/C: Compressor runs intermittently and doesn't cool room

Your issue sounds like either a bad "pressure switch" or that the unit is low on "Freon." Either of these problems will cause the compressor to start and run shortly then compressor cuts off, then and repeats itself.

From your description It really does Not seem to be a "bad board in that unit" because the compressor is starting up, even though the compressor is not staying on long enough to cool said area.

Cool air when running; warm air when compressor is off.

It sounds as if warm outside air is being drawn back into the room when the unit is not actively cooling. Portable units depend on room air to carry the heat outside, & therefore will not work properly if the room is too airtight. Provide a makeup air passage by leaving the door slightly open, & see if this helps. Use a room thermometer to see if your desired temperature is being reached. Note that if the wind is strong & coming from the wrong direction, it may not be possible to prevent warm air drawback.

Why cools the ac only 1 hour full power and never reaches the set-point temperature ?

check that all the doors and windows are closed as ac units do not work well when trying to cool the world
is the ac unit too small for the room size
I suspect that because it is working the problem is outside the ac control
is the inside fan working and blowing out cold air

Why is our a/c blowing room temp air when the setting is on cool?

It sounds like the compressor is not running. This could be due to a faulty thermostat, a bad start capacitor for the compressor, a bad compressor overload or simply a bad compressor. You would need a voltage meter to check all of these components.

Thermostat does not cycle, always running compressor

If you are confirmed that the thermostat is not cutting off the compressor, then it is possible that the thermostat is faulty.
You will have to check if the compressor is cooling the room properly , If not then the thermostat is not getting up to the set temperature . In such a case reduce the thermostat level and see if the compressor cuts off. If so the compressor is not cooling to the extend that it ought to then have the gas pressure checked. If low
fill up or if the pumping is bad then then the compressor might be defective.

How do i turn it on for the first time

hi there'
turning ac on,there are two switch on control panel of ac.find the thermostat control this signifies the room temperature you want, set this first to a maximum setting.another switch is for the motor compressor and fun motor.rotate the switch to fun first after a couple 15 second rotate again the switch to lo cool setting w8 for 10 to 15 sec. then rotae it again to hi cool there will be a sudden heavy change of blwing air and cooling effect then rotate set the thermosat switch to temperature comfortable to your feeling, observe the cycling process, because the compressor motor stop if the room temperature reached the set up temperature.stopping or switching off just rotate the switch of the compressor motor on off position.have a nice day fix my rate thank s a lot.

Hello, I can assist you.

If the unit is supposed to turn off and it doesn't, it will be necessary to check several things.

  • First, is the unit cooling properly? See the section entitled "The air is cool but doesn't seem cold enough."

  • Next, is the temperature of the room adequately cool? If the room temperature is cold enough try setting the thermostat to a higher temperature. If the unit then seems to work properly leave the thermostat set to the higher temperature.

  • If the unit is cooling properly when it is turned on and the room is not cool enough the problem is probably that the unit is trying to cool an area that is too large for its capacity. Use the following chart to find the appropriate size air conditioner to use:

100 to 150 square feet = 5,000

150 to 250 square feet = 6,000

250 to 300 square feet = 7,000

300 to 350 square feet = 8,000

350 to 400 square feet = 9,000

400 to 450 square feet = 10,000

450 to 550 square feet = 12,000

550 to 700 square feet = 14,000

700 to 1000 square feet = 18,000

If the room is heavily shaded, reduce needed capacity by 10%

If the room receives a lot of direct sun, increase needed capacity by 10%

Add 600 Btu/Hr for each person in the room if there are more than two people

If the unit is for a kitchen, increase the capacity by 4,000-6,000 Btu/Hr.

If the room size is too big for the air conditioner you have two possible choices. Either decrease the room size by shutting some doors or partitioning off an area of the room. Or, increase the BTU of the air conditioner for that room by installing a different air conditioner with a higher BTU rating.

- Calibrate your electronic thermostat if it is accurate. If not then replacement is needed.
- Check the location of your electronic thermostat, it may be installed in the room where its too cold.
