Hi jmathe, Looking at the back (business side) of the vacumn: Underneath the white plastic dirt cup, please find a cast aluminum latch, that secures the part you will empty. To remove the white plastic part, turn the aluminum latch handle downward, and to your right, while you are holding on to the dirt cup with your left hand. I usually wear a dust mask, and empty the dirt into a small grocery bag, to tie shut, before placing it in the trash. To replace the dirt cup, turn the cast aluminum handle back to where it was before, handle pointing left. The more often you empty the cup, the longer your Regina Electrik Broom will last. Mine is forty-five years old. Allow the motor to cool, often, as well.

Mine is an old model too. But it's smokey black colored, no white cup or latch. I empty it by pushing the side dirt canister down hard while pulling at the top. If you look you can see a little tab to clear at the top. Not a great design but otherwise it's a nice little vac.

I just took mine completely apart to clean it. I had to leave it and when returned I couldn't remember what went where. Now the brush won't turn. Seemed pretty simple. Without a parts diagram I don't know if I lost a part? Does the belt run directly on the little groved rod coming out from the motor or was there a piece that went on that rod, then the belt? I can see the rod turning when I test with back plate off.

Can you disconnect the hose from both ends of the unit?
I generally push a broom handle down a clogged hose, and second broom handle if needed!

You can also attach a shop vac hose to the shop vac exhaust and blow it out using the exhaust of the shop vac.

Maybe you sucked up a dryer sheet or plastic bag. Empty the unit completely and look at all the possible portals where items have to travel through.

How do you remove dirt from the regina electric broom

It's not the best design. Grab the canister push down hard while pulling top out. If you look you can see the tab you have to clear at the top. It gets easier the more you do it.

I can not find how to get the canister apart to empty the dirt.

From the bottom of your machine going upwards past the handle that is on the canister portion of this vacuum, you will see that the top of that canister had a depression where you should be able to put your fingers in, and gently pull that lid back, opening the vacuum bag compartment. According to the manual, simply pull that back, exposing the bag. To remove the bag, pull the cardboard plate on the top of the bag, out towards the no open face. Throw away your old bag, and take your new bag, fold down the paper sides of the bag, then slide the new bag into the track completely. Close your lid, and you are done.
While you have this compartment open, it's a good idea to check your filter that sits below the paper bag.

Part numbers
Paper Bag: SC-P11
Filter: SC-F2

I hope this helps you.

How do you clean the "bagless dirt cup" for my Oreck Cordfree Electrik Broom? I do not have an instruction manual since it was given to me.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The best way to clean a dirt cup is to wash it with soap and water and dry it thoroughly so that there is not water or moisture, do NOT however get the filter wet because it will lose filtration and the best way to clean the filter is to brush off the dirt, wipe off the dirt on the filter, or replace the filter id dust and dirt are getting through, other wise wash the cup only with soap and water. Also contact your local vac dealer or Oreck Store in your area or the Oreck factory @ the number listed below t get a new owner’s manual. So feel free to contact your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Regina 12amp bagless vacuum cleaner

i don't know about this particular model, but if you did opperate a full vacuum cleaner until it got hot and went off on it's own, this means you might have overloaded the motor and blown the protection fuse. in this case, you might have to change it. refer to the owner's manual about overload protection.

Emptying cylinder

I hope you've found out by now, but, in case you haven't, the latch to remove the canister is right by the handle on top of it, just don't lift until you release the latch with your thumb, it's got a safety to keep you from hitting the release when you're using that handle to carry the vacuum.  (good engineering).

you can download a manual from the dyson site, here:
