Kworld pc to TV - avi does not show on TV screen

This is oddball. I can watch online films or TV shows on my TV with the Kworld pc ro tv converter, but when I try to watch .avi or .mpeg videos saved on my pc, the screen is blank. If I fullscreen the video, the whole TV screen is blank, but if I "restore down" so I can see my desktop behind the media player screen, the TV shows the desktop and the player window, but the actual video is missing. I can see it playing on my laptop screen, but on the TV that part of the screen is just blank.

This happens with .avi, .mpeg, and .mov files. I've tried Windows Media Player, QuickTime, and RealPlayer, with the same results. I've tried converting the file types, with no luck.

The original video files are using the DivX codec.

Any help would be appreciated.

This turned out to be due to weirdness in my laptop's onboard graphics card. If I set the external monitor to display the way an external monitor usually does, as a clone of the laptop screen, the videos show up blank. But if I set it as dual-screen (extend my desktop to this monitor) and drag the video app onto the second monitor, it works fine.

When i plug my usb stick into the tv to watch a movie,it does not show,it will only show images(Photos)

Does your TV support the movie format you are trying to watch? Should be AVI, but actually not even all AVI movies are supported. If you are watching AVI on a software player, you can find the appropiate Codec, but you can't modify the video decoder of a TV set.

Usb will not show avi movies?

One must remember that smart TVs are not computers. While they have a processor and can perform many computer-like functions, they are limited in what they can do to what the designers embedded in them. Many TVs can only read MP3/MP4 type encoding, and will not recognize other types such as .avi or .divx. Check your smart TV manual for a list of what file extensions are supported. If you have a computer, you can get converter software (often free) that will convert the file format. Then you can convert to a file format that is TV-friendly.

Can't play avi videos usb

Hello to all. Have twin boys staying over the holidays and they wished to view movies when they went to bed. have Polaroid 32" P32LED12 fitted to their bedroom. The tv is ok for playing dvd through it but when on using the usb drive with movies on it, it came up Invalid or Unsupported file. Have tried different movies with different formats and came up with nothing to play. So got myseld a video converter program: Wondershare video converter ultimate. On looking at the booklet from Polaroid, it says MPEG1.2, but although on converting the film to this format, the film broke up. So I took an AVI trailer and converted the trailer to all the formats on the converter and stuck this on the USB and stuck it into the tv. Out of all of them, i found that the converter format was VOB DVD FORMAT in this coverter. The film did not break up and the sound great. The film sizie was a bit smaller in frame size but this can be increased. What the converter showed after the conversion was: DVD-Video/ Format: VOB. Video Codec: MPEG-2/ Audio Codec: MPEG-2 audio. There is a settings on this converter at the lower right corner, but you can fiddle with this yourself. But to finish with, I have tried most of the films with different formats and could not get them to work on this tv, so get yourself a video program converter, put in laptop or pc and convert film to VOB. Hope this helps as there is nothing in any help on google for this tv.

What files do a hitachi L32HK04U L support as it wont play my file from my usb stick

This tv will not play , wmv, avi, mov, mkv, or divx, the hitachi uses the xvid codec only, which means your video file types must be mp4, and not the h.264 mp4 either....but true mp4 video, if you have a connected usb drive full of movies, best bet is to download "youtube downloader" (free off the internet) install it to your PC, and use the convert feature to convert your movies to the ipad video mp4 setting, with the "same as original " quality ticked....and convert all your movie files to the xvid codec your tv wants, youtube downloader can convert anything, any filetype even flash. trust me this works 100% i know, i have the Tv, and i do know about codecs and scaling..and metadata....do this will be your best bet guys !!! happy viewing

I just connected my new Kworld PC/TV converter. My tv now displays large vertical color lines. I,ve connected the yellow video cable, s-video cable and the red/green/blue cable. I have a new Toshiba...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of checks:
  • verify that the P/N switch is set to the color system of your country. N (NTSC) for US and P for most of Euroope and Australia;
  • depending on how "old" the TV, the Screen Resolution of the Toshiba may have to be brought down to the lowest possible setting;
  • additionally, the Screen Refresh Rate may likewise need to be lowered say 60 Hz;
  • all of the connections you mentioned are video connections. However, only 1 should be used. You may have to experiment (again depending on the TV) which setting & connection would give you the best picture;
  • offhand, the component connection (if applicable, the red/green/blue cable) would give the best connection followed by S-Video and last would be yellow (composite).

Please postback results of initial checks.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

KWorld PC to TV Converter

I had the same problem. It turned out the issue was that I had the VGA Y-cable connectors between the PC and the KWorld box reversed. They look like they should be interchangeable, but they are not. A closer look at the cable connectors shows that one is marked "PC", one is marked "Monitor", and the 3rd is marked "SCAN CNVTR". Once I got them plugged into the right places, I got the screen image on the TV.
