HP Inkjet C3100 - Boot up problems

HP Inket C3100. When the printer's USB plug is plugged in, it does not allow the computer to boot up. Only after unplugging the printer's USB cable, does the computer boot up and only then can we replug the USB cable and it prints fine.

Is there a way keep the cable plugged in and have the computer working properly?

Please help.

Try going into the bios by pressing F2 as the computer boots, then go to boot options and choose to boot from the hard drive first, cdrom second and floppy drive third (if you have one) then save the changes and exit the bios. You computer should boot as normal now.

I hope this helps

How do i install PRINTER

Setup the printer where you are going to use it & then make sure you have a USB lead ready and plugged into the printer but do not plug into PC yet, assuming you have the software & drivers cd that came with the printer ( if not then download software from HP website ) then install cd first then when it asks you to plug in the USB Cable & power on the printer follow on screen instructions until completed.

Computer won't boot with the Lexmark X4650 printer attached with USB

Change boot order in BIOS menu to get rid of all USB devices. Plug it into a different port. Set USB in boot menu to USB 1 not USB 2

The computer stops loading and waits for approximately 2 minutes before continuing to boot. When we removed the hp Printer usb Plug and the computer boots fine. Please help. Thank you, Althea Mason

The symptom you described happens because your printer is capable of reading memory cards.

When you turn on your pc with the USB cable connected, your pc is checking the memory card slots in your printer to see if any of them contain a valid operating system that can be used to boot the pc.

Once your pc determines the memory slots do not contain a bootable operating system, it then continues the boot process and loads the operating system from your hard drive.

When you disconnect the USB cable, the memory card slot are not present and the pc boots normally. I've run into this exact same situation at work with certain models of HP printers.

My best recommendation is to check the BIOS in your pc to see if it is possible to disable the option that allows your pc to boot from USB devices.

When you first turn on your pc, the screen will display a message informing you of which key to press to enter the setup program. This is where you want to check to see if the USB boot option can be turned off.
Note: Not all pc manufacturers provide an option to disable booting from USB devices.

If you can't disable the USB boot option, check to boot order to make sure the internal hard drive is listed before any USB devices.

I have to say though, setting the boot order so the internal hard drive appears before any USB devices does not always solve the problem even though it should.

HP 8250 Prints wierd stuff on computer boot up

Used HP's chat, they helped walk me through it. NO CHARGE! You push the 'on' button for 45 seconds after you disconnect all the cables. Plug in the power cable only. Then print a test page. If that works, plug in the USB. Should fix the problem. I'd recommend working with HP, as they can check the internals on your machine while you chat with them.

Lost communication of hp printer to our pc

It is a power problem Check all cables to ensure they are plugged and snug. Also, you may turn off both computer and printer. Unplug all cables to inlude USB cable to PC. Boot up PC to ensure all ports are in power and then turn on printer.

Not insatalling drivers

Is this during the installation? If so, unplug the printer, remove any driver/software you've installed (or partially installed) for it then re-boot the machine. Once the machine is restarted, plug in the printer first and allow Windows to detect it. Once it detects it, it will ask for the drivers, DO NOT run the setup for it. Instead, point it directly to the .INF file on your installation CD, and allow Windows to install it itself (you can then proceed to install the software from it (via the CD) once the printer is correctly installed). If you continue to have problems, you may want to consider downloading a new copy of the drivers to rule out corruption or a problem with the connection between your drive and the computer;

Printer not configurating with computer

Two problem that occur. You plugged in the new printer before installing the software. If you have XP it will go and install it with it's drivers. Your printer wants it's own drivers. A second problem I've seen is having too many devices plugged into USB ports. If the software was installed properly, remove non-needed USB devices and re-boot the computer. If the printer works, look into purchasing a "POWERED" USB hub. They cost between $5-$25
