Hitachi 53uwx10ba hi i was wondering if you would be able to tell me the convergence resistor locations and values and also the procedure to get into service mode on this tv thank you

    thank you very much............i used metal oxide resistors

    i went to repair and found 4/6 resistors way out of value so i changed 4 of them...........powered tv on and everythign worked except the blue would not move up/down...........i even changed the stk all new....i was stumped so i checked resistors and found that one of the new res i changed was no good....i found out all my 1.5 ohm res were bad straight from ret package lol

    so i had to buy another package and the tv worked great now

    lesson does not always mean good....always check before you install new can be bad too lol

Did u check the pico fuse and all those resistors on the tv convergence board to make sure with ones are good resistors which are not good resistors and replace all them resistors too?U didn't do that should get it tested and replaces all those dying resitors.Try website like look up ur Hitachi tv model what resistors and pico fuse u require to check.

I have a Hitachi 53UWX10BA tv. The picture colors are off and blurry. I ran magic focus and it showed a 4 on the bottom of the screen

Ur tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.Tv have corlors R,G,B lines mis alignments,have colors shadows picture or 3D picture look alike?Yes.The tv convergence board is dead.The convergence board must change 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors to fix the convergence board to solved the tv convergence picture problems.The shop will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

No there are no quick fix options for this fault. The convergence amplifiers operate similar to a high power audio amplifier, so if there is an impairment anywhere in the system, it will result in distorted audio, or in the case of television convergence amplifiers, a color won't align. The convergence power pacs need to be replaced and the out of tolerance precision resistors located near the power pacs need to be carefully checked and replaced as necessary.

It is also possible that there are root faults that cause the amplifiers to go bad which include bad connections or a bad digital control module. This repair is possible for anyone having basic electronics knowledge and soldering skills.

Hitachi 53uwx10ba turns on & off when off red flashing light/clic

Same problem. Replaced both convergence ICs about 5 months ago. Worked fince since then and just recently no sound, no video, blinking red on front panel and clicking sound. I suspect that the ICs went bad again and blew a resistor or two. I used cheap Chinese ICs instead of the Sanyo ones and thing this is why. I'll be looking at it again and post solution.

Yes you can use them but read this first:

I could not have said it better myself, I keep this around for times like this.
The various IC's have different specs, one important one is the quiescent current. The higher number STKs have a higher quiescent current (+10%) If you replace a STK 392-110 with an STK 392-150 the small value resistors will "smoke" in many cases and have to be changed with different values. The different TV Help blogs are full of people that have put in the "new and improved" ICs then asked what to do now, all the resistors have smoked or the unit will not start. Hitachi has considerable information on the use of these ICs. In all cases they tell you to change the resistors for different values, to allow for the higher idle current. They also include information regarding alignment for minimum idle current in the circuit. This relates to height, width and hor/vert centre.
The design of the TVs is ok, the IC's fail from AC power bumps or lightning (accumulated damage to junctions over time). Semiconductors will run forever if they have a smooth DC power source, are ventilated to operate within temperature specs, and not overdriven. This was demonstrated when com satelites were first used. They had estimated electronic failure in 4 to 6 years and many last 20+ years. They are replaced when they run out of manouvering fuel or get an induced power surge from the sun. When the IC's run too "hot". there is usually a low ohm resistor that has increased in value and causes higher current output from the chip through the feedback in the circuit design. The resistor(s) may have changed from 1.8 ohms to 2.5 ohms, the TV will still run, but the IC will fail prematurely.
STK 392-110 will work fine if all the small value resistors are ok and the TV is not subjected to a hotter environment than normal or power line related troubles. Many RPTVs are mounted in enclosed areas with no air circulations or in direct sunlight. These situations will cause the unit to operate at raised air temperature around the IC's resulting in more failures. Some people have "hotter" houses than others, their convergence IC's will fail sooner.
If you can redesign the convergence circuits and waste your time replacing all the low ohms resistors, go for it. Otherwise use the STK 392-110, or whatever the manufacturer had in the unit. I know from experience. When Hitachi came out with "new and improved" replacement ICs we installed many STK 392-120 for STK392-110 in Hitachi and other makes. The result was many burnt resistors, many call backs and big expense. The same applies to the Samsung STK392-010 or STK392-040. Use the original IC.

you can download your schematic that will tell you resistor values and the rest of the circuits and IC indentifications as well as test procedures and more , this is a ten part zip that can be opened with winzip and read with adobe just click here
then to order resistors you can get them here
or look for an electronic parts supply store around you , but alot of the time they too have to order the parts, ecspecially certain valued resistors or other special valued parts

Set needs convergence ic's changed (STK392-110). Also look for resistors slightly discolored around STKs, usually low value like 1.5 ohm, 2.7 and 3.3 If you have an ohm meter and a soldering iron, solder and solder wick, you can attempt this yourself. Remove rear cover of set. Mark and unplug connectors from convergence board, including small jumpers that interconnect boards. Remove board, turn over and unsolder pins of conv. ic's using solder wick. Unscrew mounting screws and pull chips out. Careful, white heatsink compound is messy. Apply new compound to new chips if needed, making sure not to bend small pins. Slide chips in and screw in mounting screws. Flip board and solder in ic's making sure all pins came through. Check for small resistors around ic's being discolored,(usually 1.5 ohm) These are critical and a few tenths of an ohm change will cause extra alignments needed. Replug and secure board. Double check that all connectors are in place and power up unit. If you changed any mechanical adjustments to tubes or lenses, change them back now and try auto convergence. Service adjustment procedures are avail. online if needed. Good luck!
