Question about 2wire Wireless-G 802.11g ADSL Gateway

Wireless router/ modem is no longer wireless

The unit began shutting down and took it to my IP who reconfigured it, now I no longer have wireless. How can I reconfigure at home to get wireless back on?

IP Address Errors


It sounds like you may be having IP address conflicts. Many Xbox users have a fixed IP address set in their unit and then have a Port Forwarding done in the router to provide faster play. If you reset the router all this is lost. Then what can happen is that the router will assign a device the reserved IP address of the Xbox. When you turn the Xbox on, then it cannot connect as there is another device already assigned that address. Reconfiguration is required to prevent IP conflicts.

Have you tried changing the channel the router is broadcasting on? sometimes if a neighbour is using the same chanel you can get conflicts. Take it of Auto and choose something like 9,11,12

you need to enter on the admistrator of your router to reconfigure it or to activate the security.just connect to router then go to iexplorer and type the ip of your router.the ip of your router is the default gateway of your computer ip.

I had to unplug everything yesterday while the electricity was being worked on. Now my internet works fine through the modem, but not throught my Lynksys Wireless G2.4. What do I need to do?


You have to reset it to factory then reconfigure it.
Look at the back, youll see a reset button,disconnect the ethernet cable from the modem to wl router,then press and hold down the button for like 10 seconds. Let go and the disconnect from power,then reconnnect power.

Now use the setup cd that came with it to reconfigure it or use the Linksy Router default IP address.

YOU MAY NEED TO RECONFIGURE YOUR NETWORK SETTINGS SO THAT THE LAPTOP ISN'T IN WIRELESS MODE IS IN ROUTER MODE SO TO SPEAK. CHECK ALL THE SETTINGS CAREFULLY.

My wireless router wont let me connect to the internet, the internet light on the unit is amber. My unit is netgear WGR614


When the router sees an ethernet connection on the WAN, it gives an amber light until it links to the internet. So, either it's a DSL and you need to set the PPPoE properly, or it's a cable connection and you need to configure it with the DHCP or IP address.

Check your ISP's modem instructions carefully and reconfigure.

reset the router back to its original default settings, by holding the reset button on the unit, while the unit is on......making sure to hold the button in for atleast 20 seconds. then log back into the router and reconfigure it as necessary. it is possible that the router reset with WEP encryption enabled, in which case, you can either disable that under "wireless security" or specify your new passphrase and write down your WEP keys, so you can use your router wirelessly.....also, make sure the router is set to DHCP. if it needs to be set to static, then you're going to have to specify your IP addresses for each connecting computer manually, as well as the IP info for the ISP you have.

also, make sure that each connecting computer is set to automatically acquire IP and DNS adresses. if so, restart the connecting computer, and you might consider resetting your DSL or cable modem if you have one. if this doesnt fix the issue, then there is either something wrong with the IP info you have inside the router, or your computer isnt configured properly for wireless, in which case, just let me know and i will gladly walk you through the process of configuration.

also, you might try to connect to the wired side of the router (with an ethernet cable) and see if you have internet access that way. this will give you a better idea of what exactly the problem is weith the router. if the ethernet cable wont let you access the internet either, its an IP issue, modem issue or the router is just bad.

Lights wont turn off even if netwrk wires are unplugged..


You'll have to hold your reset button down for atleast 10 seconds, or even more, then you'll have to reconfigure you entire connnection at address 192.168.2.1.
However before doing that, try and power down the whole unit for a minute or so and power it back up, then go to you computer's wireless connection and renew your IP address [that's if you have automatically assigned addresses]. otherwise you might have to check that you router and computer are operating on the same page [ by this I mean, if your router is assigning automatic IP, make sure your computer is not set to use a static IP, In my years of network, this has always been problem I have experienced on some routers]

You need to power down the modem, router and computer then turn them all on in the order - modem first, then router, then computer... Doing that and barring anything else that should work for you!

Wireless g router wont connect to modem


reset the router holding the button on the back by a pen for least 10 secs. and then connect it to a wired to a port and the computer. ( not the wireless) and now reconfigure with the local ip
