Boom box My boom box won't play when I turn it on.. This is what I have to do to get it to play. I have to bang on it with my fist or some other object then it will come on and play good for a while then stop again, so I bang on it and it starts again. I really want this fixed. I like this boom box and want to keep it. Any suggestions? Thanks Much

Re: boom box

There is probably a loose connection inside the case, either to the switch or the power supply. Whats happening is you bang it just right and the vibration causes the wire to touch a contact. Then when it heats up a little from use it seperates again and turns off. A screwdriver and some solder will probably fix it, if you can find the loose wire (and where it goes!!!)

I have 2 boom boxes where cd's spin but no sound.

Its probably a lens failure, its quite common, try cleaning the lens,

if all else fails, try turning the unit upside down and load the disc, sometime this for some reason - resets the lens if slighty out but its not fact, just something i heard

CDs won't play

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, try cleaning the laser lens with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol gently, allow several minutes to dry, if this fails the whole assembly must be replaced, not cost effective to repair cheaper to buy.

Boom box won't play CD

The Laser is more than likely the problem, but you can only replace with the whole assembly due to alignment issues, not cost effective.

Sony CFD-S33 boom box not playing cd's

Insert a lens cleaning disc into the set and play it at leat three times. If the fault is due to accumulation of dust, the cleaning disc will clean it out and your set will be work again. If this does not help you, the laser pickup unit of the set is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your twon, and won't cost more. OK.

Cd player on boom box

Hi I don't have a boom box, but i do know a little bit about CD players, and i think first the CD you are putting into the player as to be a proper bought CD, you know official CD, if you have done that, and still have the same problem, then its because the laser light is faulty, which basically means the CD player needs replacing.
