You may try this fix. No guaranties though. Remove the battery and unplug power cable. Then hold down the "power" button for about 10 seconds. After that plug it back in and try turning it on. Again, this may NOT work but it has for others.
Power down your Compaq Presario F500 notebook computer. Remove the unit's internal battery from its housing compartment. Use a screwdriver to unscrew and remove all of the screws from the
bottom panel of your Compaq Presario F500. Use your hands to lift off
the bottom panel, revealing the inside of the notebook computer. Look for the CMOS/BIOS chip: It will be located in the center of your
computer's motherboard, which is itself located in the center of the
case. Remove the small battery from its housing compartment on the CMOS/BIOS
chip. Then, press and hold the "Power" button on the laptop's case for a
few seconds. This will completely discharge all electricity from the
device. Replace the CMOS/BIOS' battery. Place the bottom panel of the notebook
computer back on and screw it back into place. Place the Compaq Presario
F500's battery back into its housing compartment and press the "Power"
button to turn it on. Your CMOS/BIOS will now be completely reset. Good luck and please let me know how you get on!!!!
if it is in a no power no boot situation you will have to replace the bios chip or replace the motherboard. if you update the bios ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON AC POWER AND HAVE A FULL BATTERY. if your battery is weak make sure the power cord is plugged in and secure . if your computer looses power during a BIOS update it is bad .
Sounds like your BIOS update did not complete successfully. Head to the board manufacturers website and check if there is some way you can reload the BIOS and recover from this. Most boards now have dual bios which means that if one bios chip fails or an update fails, you can reload the stored BIOS through the other chip.
If you are unable to recover from a failed BIOS update, you may need to purchase a replacement BIOS chip from the board manufacturer. You may even be able to reload the original BIOS onto the chip through your local PC repair store so give them a call and enquire..
