I hooked up all speakers directly to the HT-WX70. (I am not using the wireless speaker box as the speakers are directly in the unit). When watching a DVD using the unit, the surround sound is excellent. However, trying to watch directv or the PS3, there is no surround sound. What am I doing wrong??

You get surround sound only if you hook up your Optical out from your TV to the Optical IN on the HT-H4500 using an optical audio cable. You may have to buy such a cable if one was not included with the TV or the home theater.
Follow the link below and click on the Manual tab.
1. Connect the front left,
front right, center, and sub woofer speakers to the back of the home theater
the home theater system off, insert the TX card into the TX Card connection
(WIRELESS) on the back of the home theater. Important:
Make sure to insert the TX card with the slanted portion of the card facing
3. Connect the
rear left and the rear right speakers to the back of the SWA-3000.
4. Plug the power cord
of the SWA-3000 into an electrical wall outlet, and then switch the power
switch on the back of the SWA-3000 to [ON]
Your symptom sounds as though you may have to turn off any surround sound settings that you have selected in the other modes. Most amplifiers use the surround portion of the amplifier to power the B channel speakers. Since you have sound when using the radio portion, I would try turning off the surround mode. For example try turning the amplifier to just stereo and see if that gets the B channel speakers to work I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. With the main unit turned off, press and hold [REMAIN] on the home theater's remote for 4 seconds. (The REMAIN button is directly under the 7 button). Once held down for 4 seconds, the Volume Indicator on the main unit will turn on for 1 second. Release the [REMAIN].
Press the [RESET] on the back of the Wireless Receiver 2-3 times. The Standby/On LED on the front of the Wireless Receiver will blink 3 times
Turn on the main unit. The Link LED on the wireless receiver will light up if process is done correctly. The front of the main unit will no longer say REAR CHK and the rear speakers should now function correctly.
You have the mode selector for the surround sound on the wrong switch setting. Look at the owners manual to see what setting you need for synthensized suround. Go to http://www.samsung.com if you need an owners manual. You will find it with a little bit of searching. Good Luck
