The PUK is the unlock code for the SIM card, not the handset, it is requested when the user enters the incorrect SIM pin 3 times. Please contact the service or network provider for the PUK. Alternatively check the card that the SIM card was attached to at point of purchase. It usually has the phone number, PIN and PUK written on it. After you enter the PUK, you will be required to enter a new PIN this can be any nummber that your son can easily remember.
PUK code stands for pin unlock code. It comes when you enter wrong code for your pin code three times. It is a security feature of your sim card to avoid unauthorised access.
When you enable pin code on your sim card, your phone automatically asks for pin no. when switched on. If the pin is entered wrongly 3 times. It locks the sim, and asks for PUK code. The PUK code needs to be obtained from your provider. If you enter PUK wrongly 10 times, your sim card will be permanently blocked and you will need to obtain a new sim card. Hence kindly contact your network for the right puk code.
When a PIN code is entered wrongly three times, the phone line will be blocked. Irrespective of the owner, it is assumed that you are not the owner of the phone line when you enter your pin wrongly.
The blocked line at this point can still be unblocked and this is where the PUK code comes in. Once you enter the PUK code, your PIN code will be reset. You can then create a ne PIN code.
To get your PUK code, if your phone is using a SIM Card, Check the SIM card Pack and you will see your PUK code there. But if you don't have a SIM card pack, you can get the PUK code from your service provider.
Call the customer care line of your service provider using another phone, request for your PUK code and it will be given to you. Note that your service provider will ask you some few questions about your line in order to be sure you are the real owner.
Note that your service provider alone is the only one that can give you your PUK code because it's only your service provider that has it.
Usually you get asked for a PUK code when you have entered the wrong PIN a couple of times. You will need to apply to the service supplier that the phone (or SIM) came from to get the PUK.
please be careful with puk codes. Puk code is asked to you....if you have made three wrong entries to pin/pin2 codes. I asked you to be careful because if wrong puk entries will be made 10 times then your connection will be blocked.
To know your puk code you have to call your customer care number saying that your pin is blocked and the phone is asking for puk number. The customer care will do some verification and then they will tell you the puk number.
Hope this will help 4 sure.....
AT&T isn't closed, there is an after hours number if you listen to the very end of the recording. I used to work until midnight central time and after that, calls are routed to the small business department. I believe it's 866 something if I remember correctly.
PIN CODE is SIM dependenet and not phone dependent
PUK code in PIN UNLOCKING CODE, which is required when you give PIN number wrongly for 3 times, This code is OPERATOR specific and not phone specific and you have to call you operator and get PUK if PIN is blocked...
if you provide PUK code wrongly for 7 time, you sim may become useless, then you have to buy new SIM
NOTE: You should ask your service provider, get the PUK, give the PIN 3 times wrongly and it asks for PUk,provide the PUK and set the new PIN..
HOLD ON!
You may enter wrong PIN three (3) times only. After that your PIN will be blocked!
To unblock, you need PUK. You can only enter wrong PUK ten (10) times. (This is as documented)
After entering correct PUK, you will be asked for NEW PIN.
So, when it says "PIN blocked. Enter PUK code", you must enter the PUK.If you correctly enter the PUK, it will asked for new PIN, by asking "Enter new PIN code:". Enter anything you want as your PIN. You will be asked to enter it twice (two times). From what I read from your post, you have done correctly, but you don't want to enter new PIN. There is no way SIM card/phone will use old PIN. The device doesn't know your PIN. So, you have to enter new PIN.
as youve entered the puk code, it asks for the new pin code, the default code was 1234 right? so if you are going to try the new pin code yu can either invent a new pin code or just enter the default code.
