Hi there

The only thing that i can suggest at the moment, if you install a graphics card greater than 256mb then you will need a power supply of at least 450w or above otherwise it wont work for PCIE or AGP or PCI.

Hope this was helpfull

In the BIOS there is an option to use onboard graphics only, PCIe graphics only or either. You would need to change that option.

Is 1GB graphics card compatible with intel 946gzis motherboard?

The Intel D946GZIS is capable of supporting any PCIe 1.0 x16 graphics card. It can also support a PCIe 2.0 x16 graphics card, but the overall performance of that card will be halved.

Memory in a graphics card does not affect compatability.

Hi ,i just wanted to know if the intel g41rq motherboard is compatible with the gts250 nvidia graphic card? since the system is kicking me out from most of the games such as call of duty etc...

Yes, it will work, just at the rated speed of the PCI-e 16x slot.
And as long as you have a power supply capable of using the card.

Capacity Per lane:
PCIe v1.x (your motherboard ): 250 MB/s
PCIe v2.x:(nvidia gts250 card): 500 MB/s

And keep in mind:
- the onboard graphic card will be disabled when installing a pcie card.
- the onboard cared uses a vga connector and gtx250 uses dvi

If it doesnt switch on make sure all the power supply connectors are connected to the motherboard.
Make sure the power switch lead is connected correctly to the power on pins on the board too.
Make sure the CPU fan is connected to the Fan connector on the motherboard to see if the fan spins or not.
Try a more powerfull power supply 400w or higher.
