    The
first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

    If that doesn't work,
leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard
    reset does not fix it.

You may have a failed keypad.

SOURCE: My microwave won't turn on

I would try another rest buy unplugging ti for a couple of minute,s then plugging it back in.

If it still fails, the keypad may be failing.

Sometimes this is due to direct spraying of cleaner on the controls, or steam or grease.

In models like this, disassembly and cleaning is required.

We can do that for you if you like.

SOURCE: when it is plugged in,

Hello
The display flashes denotes a fault to its internal circuit. Just look at its user manual. Come towards the SERVICE CALL CHECK on page (17). Read it carefully. There is a note. It says
A microwave oven should never be serviced by a "do-it-yourself" repair person
Just check all the four checks that company has adviced. If you fail any one amoung this, you have to send the device for repair.
[1] Does the oven light come on? YES _______ NO _______
[2] Does the cooling fan work? YES _______ NO _______
(Put your hand over the rear ventilating openings.)
[3] Does the turntable rotate? YES _______ NO _______
(It is normal for the turntable to turn in either direction.)

[4] Is the water in the oven warm? YES _______ NO _______

If "NO" is the answer to any of the above questions, please check electrical outlet, fuse and/or

circuit breaker. If they are functioning properly, CONTACT YOUR NEAREST SHARP AUTHORIZED
SERVICER
OK.

Microwave has no power the powe sourse works

Hi, your microwave can be dead for many reasons.

It may be the fuse, which is usually located on the floor of the oven behind the control panel or between the door switches.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO)/ thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / bodyof the oven.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cookingthen comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causingthe magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

When checking thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should readopen, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

Ifit goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or closethe door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switchmount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a badconnection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, oreven an intermittent fuse.

You should do a continuity test onthe fuse while it's in the holder (with the microwave unplugged, ofcourse) then turn the fuse by hand or take it out and put it back in,then test it again.

If you remove the fuse, then press the meterleads against the ends, it can allow internal contact to be made andmake a bad fuse appear to be good.

There is power supply to the micro however when turned on sounds like microwave is working before any buttons pressed and no buttons work when pressed. Also when door is opened display light comes on and...

Without a make and model number it is difficult to guess.
If the door switches are faulty, odd things will happen. I suggest they are checked first of all.

R-209BK Sharp Microwave buttons inoperable

I had this problem too:
it turns out that it (apparently) just needed some 'warm-up' time!

After being plugged in for about 15 to 30 minutes,
the buttons suddenly "came to life"...

Note that when it's flashing 88:88 you are supposed to _start_ with the 'Stop/Clear' button. After that, set the clock (press "Clock", enter the time with the number pad, then press Clock again).

Hope that helps.

Key pad not responding SHARP R-9H11

Without being able to put my meter on it. My first guess is that you have a bad board. I would say a high limit but it either works or don't work. It does not come and go. There is not a lot to a microwave. You have door switch's, Mag tub, fuse, fan, transformer, diodes, belt, high limit, pc board and a touch pad. This sounds like a pc board to me. Honestly, if it's not a fuse. Unless it's a high dollar built-in unit, they are not Worth fixing. You can buy a new one cheaper. This is why a lot of service company's don't work on them anymore.
Please rate this solution if helpful.

After snubbing the darned thing overnight, plug it back it to see if it has recovered. These things do have primitive computers and we all know how reliable those things are- It may just have 'crashed,' just like seemingly all others.
