oK " It's your timer, it has to be replaced
it's not going threw all it cycles, will start but will not finish
not a big job, unscrew plate on back at the top you will see
timer , take it out and replace it
( can not stress enough that you have to unplug the electrical cord from the wall socket before working on a dryer or any appliance )

I would suspect the timer is on it's way out the door. Do you have any areas the timer has dead spots? Check the exhaust for any plugging also.Is this only on a first time start up or is it after this dryer has been running? If after running it could be a high temp sensor, that by the time you are playing around with it, the temp has changed.

Timer may need to be replaced. You can test it with an ohmmeter or test light.
You can do the same with the push button. If you have more problems, then the main control could be faulty

F02 = Long Drain -- If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and "F02" is flashed.
NOTE: After 4 minutes the "Sud" error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.
*Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
*Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
*Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
*If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.

I actually had the same problem and read some other blogs and found that this is a control board issue. Whirlpool actually had a recall on these boards and should cover the part and labor to fix. I called them today at 1-800-253-1301 and they are coming out to fix my washer this week. When you call they just need the model number and the serial number. Both can be found just inside the lid on your washer. Good luck!
