There are many causes of this problem. I am more familiar with stratix printers though.

Check the cutter (if it is automatic) If it is jammed or not all the way retracted it will take the printer off line.

if you are using the serial/parallel port for the printer check to see if it has a cut in the wire.. Change cable if necessary.

The power supply may be introducing noise into the logics of the printer. If you are adventreous open the printer and inspect the power board for capacitors that have a round top or have dryed up oooze on them. They will need to be replaced or the board needs to be replaced.. Depends on your skill level.

My star sp200 will not print when asked. The "online" light is not lit up (I'm not sure if it was on before the problem) When I unplug the printer port cord, the online light comes on and the feed button...

1. check the usb or parallel cord to the PC to see if it is connected proper ly
2. clear all print document on the pc
3. If the "online" light will not come on this may mean that the cord is not completely in the connection socket.
4. check Dip switch for parallel cable ( should be 3 ON, 4 ON, 5 ON) this is for USA settings
5. check paper roll ( if at the end of roll it will shut down if proper paper load is loaded.
6. When temperature at the print head is high printer will go "offline"
7. check the alignment of the ribbon also

Trying to use star sp200 with quickbooks pos and keep getting spread out printing

Sounds like the "template" is set for "letter size" paper rather than "receipt" paper.

Go to "Workstation" Preferences, and then "Printing". Verify the template selection.
