Do you have DHCP enabled on your wireless access point / router?

If not you'll need to find somewhere to either enable it, or manual set your ip for the PS3

Says i am connected but when i open firefox it says that i have no network connection... the wireless icon also says it is acquiring ip address

if the message aquiring ip address comes in computer then it says that the wireless router is not giving an ip address to your computer.... check if any static ip address is assigned to your wireless connection...if so change to "obtain ip address automatically".... right click on wireless network name> goto properties > authentication tab> uncheck "enable IEE athentication"
now try to connect again, still not restart the computer once...... this will resolve the issue.... still if it is not connected then check for the security settings in the router... if your computer is XP/MAC, it may not recognize WPA security type.... change it to WEP type and try to connect again....

Microsoft Wireless Network Adapter Xbox 360 can't connect to xbox live and cant obtain IP address

if its having trouble obtaining ip address it sounds liek you need to manually config the connection on the xbox by typing in the name and any wep key and than going into your router and making sure it has multiple ip's available for the xbox for my xbox I had to enter the name of the connection because it was a weak signal despite the proximity I changed it to connect to linksys which was my router name at the time and never had another problem I hope this info helps if nothing I suggested works it may be a problem with your adapter just not having the signal strength if you have had it connected via wire in past and know the router will accept other computers than I would have to say this is your problem

Hope I helped
Please leave feedback
Thanks

Where did you obtain the IP address?

If you went into System Preferences and saw the PS3 there and copied the assigned IP address, then it should work.

Connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
Make sure the router is setup correctly to your modem, if you can connect all your devices by ethernet cable to the internet then it's set.
If you are using a wireless connection and if it asks for the WEP or WPA key, make sure that you are entering the correct encryption key. You may want to call your router manufacturer to know the correct key for the wireless connection. FYI, it will say that the wireless network is connected but it will still fail the IP Address.

If you have a wired connection and the IP Address or DNS failed, I suggest you to call your Internet Service Provider to check for the Internet connection and obtain these (static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS server and secondary DNS server). If your Internet is okay, enter the IP settings manually on the console (System > Network Settings > Edit Settings > IP settings).

That should work.
