Question about SanDisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader

2 Answers

I am running Wondows SP Professional with all the latest updates installed (inc SP3). I have a Sandisk Imagemate 5 in 1 card reader and a Microdia Flashmover. When I put my SD Ultra II 8GB card in either of these and plug into my Pc through the USB ports (have tried a couple of different ports) they dont work. Sometimes I get the noise that indicates that a device has been connected to the PC, and sometimes I dont. No new drives appear in the "my computer" screen. They do appear in the list of items connected to the pc in the "safely remove hardware" list but only as generic USB devices. The microdia is not supposed to need any drivers. The SanDisk driver wont install and tells me that I need to have the device connected to install.... even when it is connected. I have a brand new MSI P31 Neo motherboard which runs the USB drives. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Wondows xp Professional with all the latest updates installed (inc SP3). I have a Sandisk Imagemate 6 in 1 card reader. When I plug in my Sandisk Imagemate 6 in 1 reader, even without a card, it doesn't work. It comes up as four seperate drives in the My Computer page, but if you try to open one it asks to insert card. The SanDisk driver won't install and tells me that I need to have the device connected to install.... even when it is connected. This device worked properly with service pack 2, so I am guessing that is where the problem resides and Sandisk has not updated it's drivers.

I bought one years ago for a different computer. Seemed slow. Got a new computer and put it away. Pulled it out to try and realized it is slower than the $1 free shipping usb card readers from china. has great prices/deals. They take forever, but try one for a buck or two, and compare the difference. It may be all you need. If it works, buy one each time there is a sale for under a dollar with free shipping. They won't last forever, and if you keep a new one in the pipeline of shipping, you will be able to always have a working and backup pocket drive that I have found is much faster than this sandisk imagemate which has gone back to storage.

SanDisk ImageMate 12in1 cannot read SCHC 4GB or higher cards

Correct!!!! This card reader cannot address cards that are higher then 3gig and cannot read sdhc cards. Most older readers will not be able to read the HC type card, and by older I mean if its 6 months old or more. To read these cards you need to purchase a new card reader. I know, My camera uses 4gig cards and I was unable to access the pics until I bought a new reader..

Comparing XP professional SP2 with SP3

The latest SPs always contain all of the patches, fixes and security updates (very important) that are released since the last SP. I recommend installing the SP3. I did this on my main developemtn machine and had no problems at all. If you are looking for a real comparison, you'd need to check Microsoft's website to see if they have any information.

Did not reinstall the needed drivers. Download drivers from manufacturer support and install them.
