Samsung i780 Ringtones corrupted

It appears, for no reason at all, that the all the ringtones are corrupt. The phone has stopped ringing (and vibrating) when some one calls me. When I go to the phone settings to change the ringtones, it tells me that all the ringtones are corrupt. I have tried rebooting and a soft reset. URGENT - any ideas?

Hi, my samsung i780 just went silent and now it doesn't ring when a call comes in (although it still vibrates) and I can't even use the alarm function, which I heavily depend on in getting up in the morning. Can someone please please help with some advise before I think of changing phones? Thanks!

My doesn´t play mp3 as ringtone, it says it´s not working propaply. that´s why most off the original rings don´t work, they are mp3, you check them on the windows paste.

Can it be a lack on the audio codecs?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem and also noticed that Windows Media Player was not starting on my Samsung i780. I Googled a bit and found the reason. Media player is somehow using the Application Data/Volatile folder. When I looked to that folder via File Explorer I saw about 300 folders. deleted them all and after a soft reset all problems gone. Hope this helps.

I have been searching for few days on the same MEDIA PLAYER & RINGTONE problem for Samsung i780.
HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Through file explorer go APPLICATION DATA, then VOLATILE . Remove every thing in this folder (VOLATILE). Reset your mobile and every thing should work fine.
Do backup your data before you make any move.
If this alone doesn't work for you remove WMPinfo.xml and MSMETADATA in program files (storage card.)

Hi Everybody,
I had the problem of Ring Tones getting corrupted in my Samsung i780 smartphone.
This is what I did to rectify.
1. Backup all the contents of your phone
2. Hard Reset your phone.  (Hard Reset Procedure could be found here
3. Restart your phone
The problem would have been solved.

Solution #2 Worked beautifully - thanks Gunais!

Don't forget you have to save all of your folders individually using the 'Explore' function in 'Active Sync' otherwise you can't copy things like your text messages to reinstall later.

Ringtones getting corrupted & camera not functioning well

with this phone working on windows it is a very likely possibility it has gotten a virus - Much like a computer and has to repaired. If you do not know how to do this [ As it can be complicated ] Then I suggest that you take it your service provider and have them fix it for you. If you do not have a warranty this could be a expensive problem. Depending on what virus it is. Best of Luck!

HOW DO I MAKE MY RING TONE LAST LONGER TAHAN 10 SECONDS !

On non-smart phones with limited onboard memory they limit the ringtones to 10 seconds for a reason. If it was longer it takes more onboard memory which slows the complete functionality of the phone. If this is something you were very interested in look for a smart-phone with SD capable storage expansion. I would look for an HTC/Blackberry/iPhone as they are dedicated MP3 players as well as capable to have ringtones longer than 10 seconds. I use MP3 Direct Cut to cut my ringtones manually and for those 3 devices they all have app stores to cut and crop your ringtones to size. If this phone is capable of doing it, the file might be too big, try lowering the quality of the mp3 by using Winamp/Windows Media Player.

I don't have my phone password for samsung f480 anymore, what should I do??

if you get it checked out, the people at the place can reset it for you, or hack it.....because if they reset your phone, you'll most likely lose everything including ringtones, and contacts.

Cant open Mobile Windows Player Samsumg i780

Have you tried a "Hard Reset"? It will restore your phone to factory settings.
Reminder: Back up your contacts and files first first via activesync.
Then go to systems tab in Settings then click hard reset.
Hope this helps!

My phon will not let me use ringtones. it is saying that it is corrupted

The proprietary software can be picky. It can also corrupt data. If the ring tones are downloads from your official cell site "im assuming its sprint." you should be able to erase them and download new copies free of charge. If they are third party ring tones they could be corrupt or an unsupported format. If you continue to have issues with corruptions take your phone into the store and have them do a software upgrade or a refirb. It sould take no longer than 30 mins and will reformat the opperating system and firmware in most cases. FYI any saved data on the phone could be lost including phone numbers unless they make a back up. REMIND THEM. Good look.

When a ringtone is bluetoothed to me, it shows file is corrupt

you need to do a master clear on your phone ... you would loose ur pictures and any downloaded stuff, but your wouldn't get that file corrupt error again. Somehow your software probably got a glitch.Try the master clear or the master reset in settings and hopefully as i said this would clear the problem. You can then go ahead and try to bluetooth any files your want to. Sam !
