Question about Samsung SGH i780 - Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 2.6" TFT - camera - Bluetooth 2.0 EDR ... Smartphone
It appears, for no reason at all, that the all the ringtones are corrupt. The phone has stopped ringing (and vibrating) when some one calls me. When I go to the phone settings to change the ringtones, it tells me that all the ringtones are corrupt. I have tried rebooting and a soft reset. URGENT - any ideas?
I have exactly the same problem and also noticed that Windows Media Player was not starting on my Samsung i780. I Googled a bit and found the reason. Media player is somehow using the Application Data/Volatile folder. When I looked to that folder via File Explorer I saw about 300 folders. deleted them all and after a soft reset all problems gone. Hope this helps.

I have been searching for few days on the same MEDIA PLAYER & RINGTONE problem for Samsung i780.
HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Through file explorer go APPLICATION DATA, then VOLATILE . Remove every thing in this folder (VOLATILE). Reset your mobile and every thing should work fine.
Do backup your data before you make any move.
If this alone doesn't work for you remove WMPinfo.xml and MSMETADATA in program files (storage card.)

I had the problem of Ring Tones getting corrupted in my Samsung i780 smartphone.
This is what I did to rectify.
1. Backup all the contents of your phone
2. Hard Reset your phone. (Hard Reset Procedure could be found here
3. Restart your phone
The problem would have been solved.

Solution #2 Worked beautifully - thanks Gunais!
Don't forget you have to save all of your folders individually using the 'Explore' function in 'Active Sync' otherwise you can't copy things like your text messages to reinstall later.
