Heya,
Normally if the you think the seal is too old than it is, I normally work on commerical fridges and the way that I check is too shine a torch inside the fridge and see if you can see any light gaps.

Where abouts are you and I will recommend someone to be able to change the seals. Normally they are about60-110 Supply or 80-120 supply and Install.

I would highly recommend getting someone in to change it for you thou as If done wrong it can warp the fridge door

Hope that helps

Stopped working. What do I look for? IS it likely to be a sealed unit failure?

compressors are not always the first thing to fail as they are fairly robust
REgular failures are from power boards ( power surges), thermostats , temp switches and start/run capacitors for the compressor
I recommend that you have a fridge technician check it out as most repairs are around $100.00 aud except for the sealed unit( compressor ) which makes the price of a new fridge very attractive
get a proper diagnosis first and then make a decision.

Cold air always settles on the bottom Check the door seals above the cold area . Check for broken seals ,cracked seals and seals that are not touching the frame. Place a thin piece of paper between the seal and the frame and close the door . If the paper falls or is easy to pull out that may be your problem. Test at various points around the door.

Fisher paykel refrigerator fault model E521T

I had the same problem, constant beeping. I removed the fan, tested it with a 12v power supply, worked fine. The beeping and flashing on the control unit was still happening though. I read online that the door reed switches can play up, so i decided to test this. I took a regular household magnet, the type you use to hold the kids drawings up on the fridge and held it against the door reed switch. Beeping stopped, fans kicked in, everything started working!!!! So I concluded that either my reed switch is not being tripped when the door shuts or possibly a reed switch problem? maybe not as sensitive as perhaps it should be..? either way my next port of call will be look at the seals around the door, are they stopping the door from shutting properly? I thought for a temporary measure you could get a strip magnet and put it inside the reed switch housing. It just means your door wont trigger the internal light when opening...

My fridge beeps intermittanly

Hello, when a fisher and paykel is beeping it is usually beeping due to a door being open or ajar or the switch that interacts with the door closeing being at fault. First check your seals and assure you have no rips or tears in the seal. Secondly you would check the switch that the door closes against usually the small black strip on some of there models. If you need me to bring up your schematic to show where your switch is located message me back your model number of the machine. Also if you have any further questions message me back those as well. Another question for you is if you look on the rear wall of the freezer do you have any frost built up if you did this would be called a defrost issue that your unit was having. Most of the time though the beeping sound is due to the switch for the door shorting and after it does short tells the control that the door is open. I await your reply if you have any further questions and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future Thanks,
Rick

Have replaced seal on freezer door but I have lost suction to keep the door closed. (Push in door seal)

Sometimes the gaskets are a little bigger than the orginal. what to do is use duck tape or something to keep the door closed for 24 hours and this will help put the new gasket in the right position. hope this helps. wally
