Question about AMD Athlon 64bit -3000+ Multimedia Computer PC Desktop

1 Answer

AMD Athlon After upgrading a memory from halfGb to 2 Gb, my PC is living it's ownlife and restarting whenever it wants to do so. It is annoying me verymuch as I do plenty of complicated work ( watch mechanics and designs)on my PC and can't afford to loose all the job after a few hours work. And it happens frequently. Even after restarting itself, it freezes(80% of 100%) when the logon sound is played (there is no sound atall!) and I have to restart it by pushing RESTART button on the tower(case). Any solutions? P.S. I'm complete idiot regarding to PCs, so, please explain step by step as you would do for a 5year old kid.:)))

No, never had a blue screen. Black was plenty of times (sort of: PC was thinking).

Check your board if can accept 2gb memory or be sure that the board you are using is compatible with the memory you are installed on it.

I have an ET1161-05- can it be upgraded to hold more memory and run faster?

Hi.
Yes, your computer came with 2 gig's of ram in the form of 2 1gig modules of ddr2 ram.

There are 4 slots for memory all together, and each slot can hold 2 gig memory chips in each one, for a total of 8 gig's of ram!

That would cause a serious performance improvement for you.

It also came with a 160 gb hard drive, so if you want to, you can get as larger drive as well.

As far as processors, a dual core, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Brisbane 2.9GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W processor will fit in with absolutely no bios updates required, so all you would have to do is take the old processor out, put the new one in, and turn the computer on.
It will recognize the new processor automatically, and will work right away!

This will have a significant performance boost, possibly doubling the total speed of your computer.

I hope this helps you out, and have a good day !

ok well first of all did you make sure it was the right type of ram stick for that computer model? and if so then try taking that ram stick out and test it with out it if that does not work then run a memtest at http://www.memtest.org/ if there are no errors then test the other ram stick. hope this helps and good luck =)
