The problem is, the combined Aluminum Head and Cast Iron Block. The two metals heat up at different speeds and cool at different speeds, so expansion and contraction can cause problems.
The Mazda Bongo has the same set-up and also has problems. No more than any other car.
You need a a low coolant alarm fitting SEE HERE and keep your eye on the levels. Service regularly and keep on top of the up-keep of the car and you should be ok.
