All Intuit Programs (QB2009, TurboTax all year) fails to run!
After download of Quickbooks 2009 R5, I restored a backed up file to Quickbooks and it gave me the messge "Quickbooks has experienced a problem and must be shut down". Now when I startup my computer, I get the message "IntuitSyncManager has encountered a problem and needs to close" and none of my 2007 through 2009 Intuit problems will run - all giving the "Turbotax (QB, etcl) has experienced a problem and must be shut down" error message on startup. Intuit is absolutely no help trying to get through their help screen barrier wall. Can you help?

Yes common QuickBooks problem due to

First it may possible that your security software such as antivirus bock that particular file so close any open programs running with security software and ten try again.

Important: This issue can occur if your product is hosted by Right Networks and you access QuickBooks with WebConnect and then select to open the file without saving. If you use QuickBooks Enterprise and your product is hosted by Right Networks, you must save the file and then import it.
How to fix it:
Before proceeding, ensure that your copy of Microsoft Windows is up to date. If the latest Windows updates are not installed, the QuickBooks installation can fail or become damaged. To install the latest updates in Windows, click the Windows Start or Logo button, choose All Programs > Windows Update. Once started be sure to install any updates marked critical.

Here is how to load and activate Quickbooks 2005 on Vista...
First of all, if you already have an activated copy of QuickBooks 2005 on another computer open it and go to "help" "my license information" and print this out so you have the details needed for activating your reinstalled copy (you don't need a fresh activation key and you may have trouble getting one as QuickBooks 2005 is no longer supported by Intuit).
On your new Vista computer, insert the QuickBooks CD but cancel any program install windows that pop up. Go to my computer and find setup.exe on the CD, right click and select the option to "run as administrator"
Once installed, navigate to the QuickBooks folder on your hard drive (typically C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks) right click on QB32.exe and on the compatibility tab select both Disable visual themes" and "run as adminstrator". Now open this file to run QuickBooks and select "file" "Update QuickBooks" to download and install all updates. QuickBooks will not work properly until you have downloaded the updates, closed and reopened the program.
I had problems with activation but I got around this by unplugging my network cable so that I had no internet connection. If you run QuickBooks without an internet connection, when the screen pops up asking you to "activate" click next and the screen to enter your license details will appear. enter your details (printed out from your previous installation) and you are done. You can restore the internet connection and use QuickBooks 2005 normally.
This is not a quickfix, but I had the same problem going from QB Enterprise 2005 to 2009. I found someone who had 2008 and he restored my 2005 QBB successfully - it prompted him for a password. He then made a backup as a 2008 QBB which I restored on my 2009 - it prompted for a password as well. Hope this helps.
I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version.
