Question about Toshiba Portege R100 Tablet PC
I poured water into the keyboard by accident, and the keyboard doesn't work now, except for a few keys. System works fine though, just keys don't function.
Do I need to replace the keyboard? Would it be possible to find a matching keyboard and replace it ?
I did the same some two years ago, with the R100 on. I switched everything off, dismounted the computer body (not the screen)up to the last screw, and dried that sweet coffee from everywhere where I found it. Mostly this was the keyboard and mouse. The motherboard is luckily protected by some plastic sheet.
Regarding the keyboard, after disconnecting it from the motherboard, I washed it completely under flowing water and then let it dry for several days. In the meantime, I used a USB one. Since then, I used the same keyboard for two years until now, when it died, apparently rather from some motherboard-related reason than water. So I think - you may get a new keyboard, but if youre lucky, you may as well revive this old one.

You Can Get A Replacement From The Company But As For Saving The Old One It Is Only Possible If You Didn't Have It On When You Spilled It. If It Was On It Caused The Board To Short Maybe Try Removing The Key Board Circuit Board And Putting It In A Big Dish Of Rubbing Alcohol. Scrub Well With A Clean Tooth Brush Then Remove And Let It Dry. This May Solve Your Problem. You May Only Fix A Couple Keys If You Do Though Then Repeat The Alcohol Scrub.
