1 Answer

GE Profile Telescoping Downdraft system gets stuck.

We installed a new motor, and it worked for a few weeks, but every time it was on it's way down ( about three quarters down) it drop suddenly drop. Now it gets jammed either in the up or down position. I take it apart and free the lifting arm, but when I turn it on it will jam again.

Try to remove your cooktop and see if the vent unit is in your countertop too tightly. by removing the cooktop it will give the vent more space. if it works that way, then you might have to make more space for both to fit properly. i have seen this happen before and its probably what is causing it to bind and then drop suddenly. i hope you dont have a marble, slate or rock type countertop as they are very hard to trim just a little off to get everything to fit.

There is generally a release tab at one side of the housing (snorkel) that you turn to release one side of the filter

yes you are right..there are switches that should be detected that the unit is in its proper level ans hould stop and turn the fan on.

you may inspect the railing or where the moving part is moving to find limit switches or sliding switches or sensors..it could have been defective with oil or grease and not making contact to transfer the signal to the controller.

Jxb37 won't lower

My unit always goes up. Sometimes it doesn't go down. Then, after some time it goes down. Could it be the capacitor is bad?

2012 Hyosung GT650R EFI jerks in certain rev ranges

Check the air inlet tube for small hairline crack TOP AND BOTTOM.

A loss motor mount can crack the air inlet tube.

This will allow more or less air into the intake at different rpm range.

My laptop shuts down suddenly

Is it overheating? Is the fan and vents clean and allowing sufficent air flow? Was it left unattended and shut down? If so change Power settings to High Performance, change Sleep to Never, Change Hibernate to never. I don't know your OS to give detailed info.

One of the things is usage does drop the scale each time you use the battery without having the power supply unit plugged in. This is common for it to drop. The thing to worry about is if it does not charge back up to 100% at all. The ideal way to not ruin a battery is to let it go completely down to about 10% then charge it to 100% and go that route always charging will over time decrease battery life. So there is nothing that you are doing wrong or the battery going bad not at all this is normal. It will discharge normally without any usage especially over a two week period of time not being charged and just sitting there. John

I had the same problem. It is the switch. Hang on because that little $3 swtich is about $60 from a parts house. Sears wanted $114. If you take the switch out or disconnect the switch at the board and jumper the two leads, (12v), it should work fine. That will tell you whether it is the switch. I did it with a small screwdriver. Careful, even though it is 12v it will get yor attention. I have all GE appliances and they are all junk.

Sometimes the glass will stick to the rubber weatherstripping when the windows are not used for a long time. We have that problem on our 2005 Town & Country, between air conditioning in summer and heating in winter, we rarely use the windows. Try to make a habit of dropping all the windows slightly (an inch or two is enough, just to move the glass) each time you get in the car, or at least once a week. Sometimes just opening and closing the door a few times jars the window enough to break it loose.

If that does not fix it, you may have a bad switch or motor.

JVB37H1BB downdraft ventilation system stuck

Folks, I have experienced the same problem several times - in all of my cases the problem was solved by simply opening the back panel and taking out the motor assembly and re-aligning it. Check out this URL for a blow up of what's inside and parts list - http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5130126

The problem is that the arm tends to slip out and therefore won't raise or lower the hood anymore. Be careful when aligning it can be a little tricky - carefully observe the how the motor works outside of the housing via the switch and you will get the idea.
