Question about GE Profile JVB67 36" Telescopic Downdraft Ventilation System: Black on Black Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

GE Profile Telescoping Downdraft system gets stuck.

We installed a new motor, and it worked for a few weeks, but every time it was on it's way down ( about three quarters down) it drop suddenly drop. Now it gets jammed either in the up or down position. I take it apart and free the lifting arm, but when I turn it on it will jam again.

Try to remove your cooktop and see if the vent unit is in your countertop too tightly. by removing the cooktop it will give the vent more space. if it works that way, then you might have to make more space for both to fit properly. i have seen this happen before and its probably what is causing it to bind and then drop suddenly. i hope you dont have a marble, slate or rock type countertop as they are very hard to trim just a little off to get everything to fit.

There is generally a release tab at one side of the housing (snorkel) that you turn to release one side of the filter

yes you are right..there are switches that should be detected that the unit is in its proper level ans hould stop and turn the fan on.

you may inspect the railing or where the moving part is moving to find limit switches or sliding switches or sensors..it could have been defective with oil or grease and not making contact to transfer the signal to the controller.

Kenmore retractable vent keeps randonly going up and down , sometimes for 6-7 times before it will stop. How do we fix it?

I hope you have the $400 appliance insurance. I had the same problem in a new house purchase. First the downdraft wouldnt work, and then wouldnt stop.
It was a micro switch and motherboard issue. Took four visits by the (insurance paid for) techie to get and fit the right part. Good luck

I have an older model GE Profile Spectra electric oven/range. It is beeping, and displays "FO" next to the clock. What does this mean, and how can it be fixed? Thanks!

This indicates either a stuck button if not the ERC needs to be replaced. The ERC is the Electronic Range Control. To check for a stuck button press each button one at a time and see if you can feel the slight click. If you have a stuck button you will need to replace the keypad membrane. Both are easy to replace. You can get diagrams and illustrations at www.appliancehelponline.com by entering your model #. All parts come with installation instructions.

F0 or F7 Shorted Clear/Off Key due to membrane switch, control or connector Shorted key panel membrane switch; Check Electronic Range Control (ERC)
you have a stuck button on the key pad you will need a new control board to fix this.

You are getting water into the range when cleaning causing the igniter switch to short out. The reason why it goes away after a few hours is because the water finally dries up. When cleaning the range refrain from using so much water. You will need to leave the range unplugged until the water dries up again.

Our Oven seems to be stuck in the Self-cleaning mode

Have you tried unplugging it and then reapplying power after a few minutes? Sometimes a power down/up cycle will reset the logic..

GE profile gas range

Hi threeamigoma,
ngafm at your service,

Your stove top and broiler works well. But the temperature won't go past 100. There is a little sign below the 100 saying ON. First time I have ever seen this.

More than likely the thermostat is faulty. But you can not tell exactly with out hands on diagnoses.
Since I am unable to be there, you will more than likely need to call a tech to service this.
There are a few things that need to b tested to narrow down the precise parts needed.

Bless You ngafm.
Please rate me before you sign off the site.
Thank You

GE Profile JGSP32GEV3BB slide in range - regulator went bad #WB19K5020

"GE makes garbage" that's what a lot of independent servicers says about brands they can't become authorized to work on because GE for instance has factory service. What makes the repairman think the regulator is bad? It is highly unlikely to be the case.
