When I load my PS2 discs, I get an error, and it tells me that it was not able to read the disc. At first it was every so often, now it happens on all my discs. This is the second PS2 system, that has given me the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
Remove the cover, take out the two tiny philips head screws from the cover on the drive and clean the lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Do this gently! use compressed air to remove the dust collected inside the unit and then reassemble.

Hello, you are most probably using a PS2 Slim, they have a very sensitive Lens Radiance. If the CD is a little scratched, a CD lens cleaner could help. Or if it is not a PS2 Slim, it must just require a CD lens Cleaner :)
Disc read errors are mainly due to worn out lens or dirty PS2
lens.Clean your PS2 lens to get rid of this problem if your lens is
dirty.Watch this video it will help you to know how to clean your PS2
lens.Watch it carefully.
Remember to keep your PS2 in Dust free environment if you don't want your PS2 lens to get dirty. If your PS2 can not play certain games like Rock band try this tip:
Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
Menu screen will appear like:
Press the (triangle) Button to enter Version Information Menu that looks like
Highlight the Play Station Driver as above and again press (triangle).
New screen will appear like
Highlight the Disc Speed as above and press button,to enter Disc Speed Menu
And set it from Standard to "Fast".
After you set Disc Speed to Fast, Press and Hold Reset Button to turn off your console.
Then again Press and Hold Reset Button till the Blue Light turns on.
if you are using the older style ps2 fat one then its probly that the disc might either be scratched a bit and almost outta date as a older ps2 gets used it will begin to have disc reading errors what i did was upgrade to the slim they have less problems with disck reading erros over time id do one of two things or both take the disc to someone or a place to have it professionly cleaned for at most 3 bucks then try it then if not try leaning your ps2 upright and incert the disc some times doing that will make the laser not hickup and read it better with the motor running sideways keepng it from skipping . if it dosnt help much im sorry but its always a good try ;)
