Question about Viper Security and Remote Start System (basic install included)

Parking lights stay on when i use the remote to lock or start trk

I had a new alternator put on and now my parking lites stay on when i use the remort start or lock the doors. i can disconnect the batt. for a few seconds and it turns the lites off until i use it again. any ideas?

I had a transmission wire reversed on mine and it would not shift into 3rd gear, when I used remote start. Seems like a wire may have gotten crossed or the hood safety switch may have come loose and is indicating a safety problem.

Hi there, first things first, have you checked the batteries in the remote? If the batteries are good (you can also check the batteries by seeing if the light on the fob works) then put the key into the ignition and switch it to "on" (but don't start it) and then press the "lock" button. The locks should then cycle locked/unlocked and the key has been reset!

normally if a car has been in a bump and the air bags deployd a new air bag moduel is needed thats why it cannot be reset

Driving 2003 f-250 down rd, and all cluster on dash went out then stopped and put trk in park then trk died... Tried starting and everything was dead... Jumped trk off and started up drive for a few miles...


Was the alternator tested off the truck on a bench tester or on the truck with the engine running?
If bench tested check the fusable links at the starter switch and make sure one has not blown. It will stretch like a rubber band if it is blown.

Just a guess Mike, but that has all the symptoms of a security system thinking you are stealing your new car-try locking/unlocking the car with the keyless remote fob, or the door key pad (if you have one)-make sure it is in park, if that doesn't work, put it in neutral and try to crank it-Hood, trunk is shut, right? Call the former owner and ask questions, use a voltage meter (digital) and check the battery voltage (should be at least 12.5)-

Battery lite came just replaced the battery and chkd alternator (it was good). I jump the battery and trk stays running about 10 mins and dies. Could it still be the alternator?


i might be a bad altinator but i would double check your battery. a bad battery will kill a new altinator. does the battery light stay on? if the battery light on the dash is not on you may have another problem...

My 2000 silverado is locked in park i have checked fuses (ok) brake lights work it will not shift with switch in on position and truck not running i know there is a switch that locks shifter but don't know...


Have you tried turning the steering wheel left then right while you are trying with the key to get the trk. out of park I had an old truck that the steering wheel didn't lock, had to call the dealer when I got a new trk and that's what he said to do. It worked. If you call the service they might know what to do.

No power whatsoever to 2002 PT Cruiser, no lights, remote door lock doesn't work, nothing when I turn the ignition key. Just parked it yesterday and it worked fine. Had the battery replaced about a month...


Start by checking the battery even if it's new. If the alternator is not charging it, it will go dead even if it's new. If a recharge gets it started, then get the alternator checked. Once running a simple check of the Alt. is to put a voltmeter across the battery terminals and see if you have 14v which usually indicates it's OK. If the Alt. is OK look for a battery drain. Something staying on all the time even when the engine is off.

is your parking light wire, wired positive or negative. If positive check the fuse on the input wire for the parking lights on the remote start. If thats not the problem check the connection of the parking light wire,should be a whiite 16 gauge wire, to your car lights. If thats not the problem then they output for the lights is bad and you'll have to get a new brain.

try putting the emergency brake on and then put the head lite switch to the park lite position, if the head lites do not cme on then they are your daytime running lites. as for a larger altenator this depends on what amperare of one you have now, but in most cases you can get a higher amp. altenator. you will have to find out what amp yours is and any parts store will be able to get one for you.I assume you want the bigger altenator for charging an auxillary battery, ( camper, trailer, or you have lots of extralites on your vehicle ).

Viper 4806v won't program I am trying to install a viper 4806v two-way remote start/keyless entry in my automatic 2004 toyota camry LE 4cyl. I got the lock/unlock, horn, lights to work, and trunk pop to work. I can't seem to get the remote start to work. When I press the remote start button on the remote keypad, the car does not start and the headlights flash 7 times. Troubleshooting says 7 flashes mean a manual transmission mode error. This means I have to enter programming menu 3 and change the starter to automatic mode. When I follow the directions to get to menu 3, nothing happens because I cannot get to menu 3 when I hold down the control button after turning the ignition off. In other words, the control button is not working. The neutral switch is on like it is supposed to be. Kind of bummed about this. Could use some guidance. My wiring goes accordingly and this car does not have an immobilizer because I used a regular metal key to start it. This car has no alarm, just a stock keyless entry, trunk release, and panic button. Again, the problem is :The remote start comes in default manual transmission mode so I have to switch it to automatic transmission mode but I can't seem to enter programming. When I try to enter programming with the procedure followed using the control button, nothing happens. It does not chirp and the LED does not blink. I also cannot enter valet mode using the control button. When the car is locked, the LED blinks and stop blinking if car is unlocked ignition is turned on. I do not understand what is going on.
