Re: Element does doesn't switch off.
By staying on do you mean the "hot" light stays on or do you mean the burner is still glowing red when you shut the switch off? if it is just the hot light then the sensor on the burner has failed and will need to replace the entire burner and sensor, comes together as one piece. if it is still glowing then you will have a stuck contact in the selector switch and that switch should be replaced.

The problem is the element. You will need to replace it. If you could tell me which element is not working, I will be able to point you to the part you need. I will also be able to tell you how to change it out. It is a simple repair to do. If the other elements work, then it may just be a loose wire on the element. I believe there are 5 wires on the element.
What is happening is the calrod element has a short to the case which returns to neutral. Hence you have 120 volts across part of the element that is not the side that the oven control switches to turn that element on.
DO NOT leave this on as the element may start arcing badly and burn the inside of the oven underneath it. The large breaker will NOT protect the wiring in the stove against this problem.
If you can't DIY, turn off power and call for service.

The burner element that is staying ON is also the same one causing the surface light to stay on. The switch that controls the element is bad. Unplug the range. Open the switch control console and replace the defective switch. Make sure the range is unplugged because of high voltage in the console.
It is usually always an infinite switch, Rarely is it a surface element. The fact that the power light does not go on is also a good clue that your switch is bad. If it was a problem with the wiring to the element, your light would be on. When you order the switch, ask for the exact origional replacement. They have some generic switches that have shafts that have to be broken off to the right size for your range. These are not as reliable as the origional which usually has a much stronger shaft. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.
inner element burned out. Either burner needs replacing or control switch is bad. Take out burner and see if coil has a break in it. IF not, then switch is bad. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks
Have you thought about reading the manual, it states that the heat goes off and on to maintain the proper heat while cooking, You should turn the burner off a few minutes before done because even on off the burner is still cooking while it is cooling down to go off. And you do not need to have as high of heat to cook that's what so great about this ceramic tops you save time and energy.
