Question about PfaFF Tiptronic 2040
I have no owners manual. I can get the bobbin to wind but the thread is not nice and tight on the bobbin. I don't think I am threading it correctly before winding, since I don't a picture to follow. Please advise how to thread to wind the bobbin. A step by step to follow would be nice. HELP please.
If the bobbin is on correctly try crossing the thread before going through the tensioner which should solve this problem and also a more evenly wound bobbin.

You need to turn the wheel inside the handwheel to wind a bobbin. You will feel it "release". (I think you turn it towards you - can't remember, sorry!) Don't forget to turn it back when you are done.

WAY OLD BUT .....slide the bobbin spindle from the left to the right and pull the handwheel out. YOU NEED TO DO BOTH. I never saw this til today hope its not too late!

Simply loosen the screw on the bobbin winder stop, no more than 1 full turn or you will drop the backing nut will fall down into your machine, move the bobbin winder stop slightly to the left then tighten the screw and see if that works. you may have to repeat this step several times until you find the right spot to stop the bobbin at the correct point.

It is not that the thread is not being picked, it is just that the tension of both the top and bottom threads is not equal. That is why the thread at the bottom gets collected because the lower thread is loose compared to the top one. Loosen the top thread by unscrewing the thread tightner a little at a time. The problem will be sorted out when tension get equal or near equal.

Check the manual for your machine to make sure you are feeding the thread through the correct guides and connecting with the bobbin as indicated.

Tips for a great answer:
1. Place the thread spool on the spool pin in
against the spool.
back to front. Pull the thread clockwise around
the inside to the outside.
4. Place an empty bobbin on the bobbin spindle.
5. Push the bobbin lever to the right to wind.
A pop-up appears on the screen to inform
you that bobbin winding is on. Press the
foot control or the start/stop button to start
winding the bobbin.
When the bobbin is full, the bobbin winding
will slow down and stop automatically. The
pop-up closes. Remove the bobbin and cut the thread

It happened to me... Check the bobbin and thread in the shaft ... Pull out the bobbin and remove all thread from the shaft. Pull out any thread remains with the tweezers. Check the feeder dogs and the needle (see Owner's Manual 2:7). Re-insert the bobbin (see Owner's Manual 2:12).Make sure that you use a good quality thread and set everything up correctly. Good luck!
