Replacing a battery for a dell inspiron 5100 notebook

How do i get the battery out of the notebook? It looks like it should slide out, but it is very difficult to move it. I need to replace it with a new one and not knowing much about these things I don't want to do any damage. Since I moved house I can't find which box my manual is in.

Hope you can help
Jeanette

When looking at the bottom of the laptop there may be a screw that is locking the battery in place. It should be somewhere close to one of the corners of the battery.

My dell inspiron 5100 battery will not charge and I left It o. The charger for a whole weekend.

You should call Dell to check if your battery is still working.
If it is, it's possible that your laptop's motherboard has a problem or your ac adapter.
If your computer is still under warranty, they can replace the necessary parts for you.

Dell 5100 cmos battery replacement

The CMOS battery most likely is a button battery, probably a CR2032 lithium battery. The battery could be located on the bottom of the laptop behind one of the panels or under the keyboard. There is no MOP, when you remove the battery it may default to the factory defaults (depends how long the battery has been removed) and you need to go into the BIOS setting to set the Date and Time etc.

Inspiron 5100 bios a32, keyboard

You can try reseating the keyboard connector. If that doesn’t work, the keyboard needs to be replaced. To reseat the keyboard connector, follow this link: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins5100/en/sm/keyboard.htm#1084976
Be sure to remove AC power and the Battery.
