Hard disk broken

After my mp3 broke I borrowed my brother's and now have broke his. It turns on but will not load, it just goes to a screen asking to choose one of four options such as format or reboot etc. If I click on format it says there is a harddisk problem. Is this repairable? Thanx

Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode the routine way; remove battery(are they charged and good?), hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart/Reboot. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen. Good luck and let us know what happened

Firmware is on the ram, have you tried another usb port?

I know mine i have to use my laptop since my pc wont see it.
if those don't work you might have a broke usb connection or cord.

SOURCE: Dropped it now comes up with hard disk error

I had this same problem twice with mine, and it means that the hard drive pin is out of place. If you hit it with your hand or against the table on the bottom, it will get the pin back in place. It sounds a little scary to hit it against a table, but it worked for me twice. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: my MP3 player has a hard disk problem and won't work

They say seeing is believing, If I did not see it myself I would not believe it in a million years. It did not work the first time or the second. They say third time is charm. The system came up, began to rebuild files & then the nomad came up with all my files & everything, data music everything.

I believe I am ready do die, as I have now seen it all :-)

Put Reload OS. If it fails then you know you have to change the hard drive.

Broken Screen

yep - the internal lcd is cracked - must be replaced

broken screens = out of luck - you can call Sandisk the manufacturer, they will tell you the same; you can call Best Buy geek squad, they will tell you the same; you can look up "Mp3 Repair" in your local or online yellow pages - they will tell you the same

Archos gmini 402 camcorder

Try turning the unit on with the hard drive disconnected. When I did this (mine had a similar problem) a screen came up and asked me if I wanted to format. I plugged the hard drive back in and reformatted. I had to format twice, but after that it worked fine.

1 Other User Has The Same Problem Posted by DEEDEE0809 on May 06, 2008I HAVE A SANSA SANDISK 1GB AND I HAVE FULLY CHARGED

You can do a hard reset by pressing and holding down the Select button (it's a silver square on mine) while pressing the volume + and - buttons simultaneously once.

Let me know if this helps. It didn't seem to fix my problem!

Pixxo mp3 player can not find disk on pc when conected to USB port.

El Passo 77.. TO play MUSIC... on a PD-A288 PIXXO MP3 player (this works on my 4GB unit):
1) turn on pixxo player (press and HOLD then BIG >| button for 4 seconds).
2) use the left-right button to highlight the MSC (MUSIC) icon
3. press the left-right button into the pixxo (avoid making it go left or right when you do this!!!)
4) Now use the left-right button to select a song.
5) now press the BIG >| button on top to begin playing the song that you selected.
6) you will see in the upper right corner numbers like 00:00 (secs into song) and a MM:SS total length.
7) To pause the song, press the BIG >| button. So >| acts as a toggle between PAUSE and PLAY.

Broken screen

Might be easier to swap hard disks rather than screens. Usually, Connect to PC indicates a faulty hard disk.

This can be checked as follows:

Connect HDD player to mains adaptor and plug in.

Connect to PC.

As player starts up, press and hold "Power On" and "Vol +" at the same time until screen goes blank.

Quickly press and hold "Vol -" until PC recognises player as a removable drive.

If the player shows up and allows access as a removable drive (E: F: G: H:.... etc) then the drive is ok, and the unit probably has a corrupt firmware, which can be corrected.

If the player shows as a removable drive but you get an error when trying to access it via "My Computer" , then the hard disk is probably faulty.

Back cover removal:

You need to make sure the two black screws either side of the connector have been taken out.

The back panel has clips on both sides.

Volume side - 1 at the bottom, and 1 next to the volume control

Opposite side - 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.

Try sliding a metal strip ( about 5mm wide) in at these points.

If the strip doesn't slide in, gently lever the casing apart at the corner with a flat blade screwdriver.
Hard Disk Removal: Undo the four screws in the corners of the metal plate, and gently remove the plate and the connector surround. Gently lift out the hard disk by pulling the blue rubber protector upwards on the opposite end to the hard disk connection. Gently pull the hard disk away from the connection by pulling slightly one side at a time. Swap drives and re-assemble.
