Kodak aio printer 5300/software problem

My problem is the software that came with the printer can not download onto my computer (windows xp) coming up with error codes everytime the download gets to the Microsoft.Net Framwork part of the download. Then I get a error message that a setup package could not install.Dear Ron,
I have a huge problem with Kodak Easyshare software since updating it over the holidays while addding an ESP3 Printer.

My G610 Printer Dock no longer transfers photos; my computer keeps shutting off and a blue screen appears telling me Windows has stopped running to protect my computer; Easyshare will not import any photos from anywhere on my computer, even though I can transfer directly via USB from my camera into the Kodak files where they always went.
I have uninstalled, run the clear utility and reinstalled all the software for both devices 9 (yes, NINE) times. It won't work. I am no longer getting error messages, since I paid for a registry clean program to fix whatever errors it found. I also did a complete clean, with a disk cleanup according to Kodak directions on your website.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of speaking with your technical support line. I was disconnected by four separate people. After speaking with Mark for 1 hour and 10 minutes, he began having me delete registry entries. I am an average consumer with average computer skills. I am not comfortable deleting registry information from my hard drive, because if something goes wrong, or we get disconnected, I'm screwed.
I have had 3 Kodak cameras, and although 2 of them have died seemingly early deaths, have been happy enough to buy new ones each time. I had a series 3 plus printer dock which I loved -- it too began tearing up expensive cartridges and destroying paper. I still went on and purchased a G610 because I liked the quality of my photos I could print at home. I just got the ESP 3 to replace a Lexmark because of all your marketing efforts.
Please advise me as to how to fix this nightmare. Sincerely,
Lynette Sadowy

Hi, thank you for responding and your suggestion to run a Windows Update. I guess I messed up my post and somehow included the post of another member. My question begins with the "Dear Ron" in the first paragraph.

I did run Windows update, discovered it wasn't working correctly, had an 0x8007043B error,

Searched for a solution to that error, downloaded and ran "dial-a-fix" which fixed my registry errors (BITS and WUAUSERV were not showing in the value data area under HKEY Local Machine something or other and I didn't want to do the suggested "regedit" process because I truly have no idea what any of this is).

Turns out I needed to install Service Pack 3 update, which is now done. So thanks for that.

Kodak Easyshare is still not working. I am going to uninstall it, run the clear utility and reinstall, all while crossing my fingers. Will keep you posted as to my progress.

After it reaches 100%, it issues a report telling me that some pictures were not transferred. None of the photos transfer and the lights continue to flash until I remove my V1253 camera.

Any further help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Thank you for your suggestion. I did do a System Restore as soon as I realized the new Kodak Software was not working with my camera and printer dock. It did not fix the problem. It's almost like the software has screwed up the printer dock and I can no longer get it to transfer the photos, even though my computer works perfectly well. Thanks,

Software resides on your computer and enables it to communicate with your device (camera, printer dock, photo printer, card reader, etc.).

Firmware is data or programs that are permanently written to the read-only memory (ROM) on a device (camera, printer dock, photo printer, etc.). The firmware holds code, which runs user programs.

had a minor problem in that the printer would not scan to file in stand
alone mode. I had to use software in the computer to make a scan. I
send Kodak a question on how to rectify this. They recommended I
upgrade the Firmware. This is where the problem started.

    I
downloaded the Firmware file and then ran it. It caused the printer to
turn on and off maybe a couple times and then the monitor said the
computer was trying to re-establish contact with the printer. The
printer was now off. At this point nothing else happened. I let it
sit several hours with no change so I rebooted my computer and turned
on the printer. I reinstalled the software and when it recognized the
printer it said it needed to print a page to set up the printer.
However when I clicked on print it just started feeding paper out. It
would continue this until about five pages were fed through then it
said it was out of paper.

Now I talked with tech support for
about six HOURS trying different things. We got to the point where
they sent me a re-furbished printer. Problem now is that when I
install the Easyshare software it reaches the point where it asks me to
connect the USB cable. Once it recognizes the printer it asks what
software I want to use. Here it doesn't matter what I answer, in about
a minute the screen just goes black and the computer starts rebooting.
It will keep rebooting itself continously until I turn the printer
    back off.

The printer will work, I installed software on my
laptop and it works fine. So the Firmware update has done something to
some sort of software in my computer. I have all the latest updates.

    I'm
using Microsoft Windows XP. I've tried killing my virus protection
program, no help. Tried killing my firewall with also no help. Tried
booting into safe mode with same result. The computer is a homebuilt
PC with an AMD Athlon XP1700.

I had the printer for a few months with no problem until I tried to upgrade the firmware.

Sounds easy; reload a backup of your system from when print drivers
worked okay. (Crashes and burns? It bluescreens after booting now?)
Failing that, the simplest thing to do would be to install XP on a new
drive and migrate data over once you got the printer etc. running.
    (Then set up backups.)
If you want to deal with it as is,you need
to run some monitoring software (Anvir Task Manager etc.) or otherwise
unreel the install stuff to determine just where the Kodak install
stuff is complaining, and get it to complain less. Some free tools out
there can examine system access by a given program and log it; the last
ones before the install stops (the ones that aren't just cleanup) would
be of interest then! Some searching in the registry for the related
keys ought to help (though there isn't anything particularly safe or
relevant about your 'Kodak' search and destroy, sorry); try the usual
regcleaner stuff, and don't forget to suspend your antivirus while
rerunning the installation so that it doesn't get in the way.

Hi HockeyMom10

First of all, which problem is yours the top or bottom one? If it is the bottom one, the first thing I would try is a System Restore to a point before you started having these problems.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance> System Restore

let me know whether it fixes the problem or not, if not, then be patient and I will post back within 24 hours

Run windows updates and see if it helps. It could be a .net upgrade required.

I would also suggest running combofix.exe on you computer. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix...

Its very simple just download and run, it'll look kinda scary but trust me its an awesome program. There's a good chance you've got a virus or adware that corrupted your registry in the first place. Just download run and reboot. This will keep you from making manual registry entries or deletions that you are not familiar with. If you like you can post the scan file back here and I can take a look at it for you.

Kodak 5300 all in one printer will not scan. Cannot get on line with 5300 a10 home center program, tells me printer is not connected

try to unplug replug the usb cable of the printer.

You may also go to control panel printer and faxes and look for the printer of your 5300 now if you see 2 icons delete them both then exit to printer and faxes. and unplug/replug your USB cable then restart computer.

If this issue not solve try to uninstall the software and download the clearutility kodak.com/go/clear. then after doing this restart computer.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Since I am not sure of the details, let me offer a long review and suggestion. It may work for you, especially if the AiO software is not installing correctly.

If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or an error message appears, there may be a problem with the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation. To resolve this condition:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add / Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (for Windows Vista).
3. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

IMPORTANT: If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not perform this operation on those other versions. Follow this procedure ONLY for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

4. Click Change / Remove (for Windows XP) or Uninstall (for Windows Vista).

5. Select Repair, and click Next.
NOTE: A progress bar shows the repair progress.

6. After the repair is complete, make sure the Restart the computer check box is selected, and click Finish.

7. After the computer restarts, start the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

IMPORTANT: If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or continues to display an error message, completely uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and do a clean reinstall KODAK AiO Home Center software. The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 will also be reinstalled with the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 above.

2. Select Uninstall, and click Next.
IMPORTANT: Uninstall ONLY Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not uninstall them.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Perform a clean re-installation of the KODAK AiO Home Center software:

a. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer, including the Kodak EasyShare all-in-one printer.
NOTE: Do not disconnect your mouse or keyboard.
b. Uninstall the Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software:

1. In the Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Program and Features (Windows Vista).
2. Select one of the following software programs from the list of currently installed programs, depending on which one appears in your list:

Kodak EasyShare software
Kodak all-in-one printer software
Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software

3. Click Change or Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista).
4. When the Install Wizard appears, click Next.
5. Depending on the issue(s) you are experiencing, do the following:

- If you are experiencing errors with the Kodak EasyShare software, such as a Tricode, in addition to errors with the KODAK AiO Home Center software, select Remove, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions for removing the software.

Home Center will not open...Can't scan

I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine:
1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer
2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall
3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software
4. disconnect the cables from the Printer
5. download from Kodak.com the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program
(I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load)
6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables
7. rebooted

WORKED for ME !
