Take your remote control and check it if its working or not .Take a cellphone with camera this is the latest gadget to check all kinds of remote control If its ok. In your cellphone open the camera then focus it infront of the remote control were the IR led or eye is located. Then press any button of remote control, you will see it glowing from the remote infrared eye while pressing any button If its okey, If the remote is defected it will not glow. Check all the button by pressing one by one if its glow If not then the problem is your remote .There is three causes why its not functioning first teh IR led or the eye is loosed contact or cold solder ,secondly the crystal 500,501,503,504 whatever number you have ,it is a square in shaped has only two colors either yellow or blue thirdly is the system memory IC is no available in the market . In the Infrared eye of the remote you must renew or resoldered the parts joints,so it will contact again and resolder all soldered parts there . Then if your remote control is glowing whatever button you press then it is good 100%. Remote is fine and TV is not responding then the problem is the TV sensor receiver..The TV sensor receiver is in infront panel of the TV maybe loose contact connection or cold solder becaused you said you can operate the TV manualy its okey in remote not working. If you have a knowledge of electronics you can open the TV and do soldering works if not its better you bring this to electronic TV shop to avoid electricuted maybe this cost only you $50.

Hope it may help you;

The IR part of the remote would have malfunctioned or the buttons would have misplaced. Remove the remote casing and check for sufficient power supplies in all parts of the IR component. check the buttons whether they press the correct portion of the printed circuit board.

Try reset .

Unplug the unit from power chord for 30 minutes and plug back the power chord to the unit .
This will reset your unit .

Try to press the menu button hardly in your tv after reset . If your problem still continues then its due to failure in internal connection . The sensor is not working properly for receiving signal from the remote.

Re set to factory settings

Go to the front panel of the panel. Manually turn the TV OFF. Via the Front Panel push the INPUT Button in & Hold. Now use the power button on the front of the TV & turn ON the TV.

If done correctly, this will bring-up the TV's Service Menu. In the Service Menu you'll see an OPTION for Factory Reset.
This procedure cannot be done with the remote-it can only be done on the actual device.

Can the service menu for the LG 52sz8d dlp tv be accessed from the orig remote not the service remote just installed new lamp and tv was working fine for 1 week now the lamp indicator light comes on and...

Hi there,

One possible solution to access the service menu on LG tv's is as follows with steps 1 - 4:

1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU button on the TV front panel.
2. While holding that button, press and hold the MENU button on your remote.
3. Hold both buttons for ~5 seconds until the service menu comes up on the TV.
4. Release the remote MENU button first, then the TV MENU button.
If you are looking to reset the lamp indicator then continue with the following steps 5 - 11:

5. Press and hold the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV front panel.
6. While holding that button, press and hold the MUTE button on the remote.
7. Hold both buttons until the Lamp Life Hours show up on your TV screen.
8. Release the MUTE button first, then the ENTER button on the TV front panel.
9. Make a note of the lamp hours if you want.
10. To reset the lamp hours, press the SELECT button (the one between the four arrow keys with two concentric circles on it) on your remote.
11. It will ask you to confirm the reset--press SELECT again to confirm.

To verify you've reset the hours, you can repeat steps 1-9 above and then just press the EXIT button on your remote.

Hope this helps. Regards, James.

Lost remote, blue screen

Sounds like you're stuck on..... Video 1 or Video 2 (whichever). If you can access your TV's menu at the front panel, you should be able to switch over fairly easy. Hit MENU. Using your VOLUME UP & DOWN buttons, Go to CABLE/SATELITE/ANTENNA, hit VOLUME UP or DOWN 'til it switches back to TV picture then hit ENTER. If you do not have an access panel in front but possibly have any other remote (cable or satelite or home theater, etc...) that can be paired with this TV and has an INPUT button, you can change the setting that way.

Hope this info was helpful. Good Luck!

My sis gave me an old samsung tv. It is just for my son and his x-box. Unfortunately there is no remote control. When switched on it is saying PANEL LOCK. Is there any way i can fix this. Model No TI-14N3....

hello you could try this The front panel of the COMBI VISION can be locked to prevent it
from being used by young children for example.
1 To lock the front panel, display the television menu by pressing MENU
( ).
2 Select the SETUP option by pressing the P ▲ or ▼ buttons the required
number of times.
3 Press the + button.
4 Select the PANEL LOCK option by pressing the P ▲ or ▼ buttons the
required number of times.
5 Select ON by pressing the + button.
Result: The buttons on the front panel no longer have any effect.
6 To unlock the front panel, set the PANEL LOCK option to OFF.Another option would be to buy a universal remote from say - Argos carefully open it and use your own batteries and use that remote to unlock the TV then return the remote to Argos or if keep the remote if the original is lost. i hope it helps

1 Answer

TV is not responding to the remote control.

The set may have defaulted to a front panel lockout. To defeat that on the front of the set hold down the MENU button for 15 seconds and see if it will then power up. I know that doesn't solve the problem with the remote but one step atta time. These sets are prone to leaky switches on the control panel and when that happens the micro cannot accept two different commands at the same time. That could be why the remote is not working.

Front panel locked and remote don't work

Are you sure there is not a problem with the TV set? The set will need to be on to unlock the front panel. Bypassing the V-Chip Lock on most Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit passcode that is required to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip lock menus. If you don't have the passcode, it is easy to bypass. This is neccessary if you forgot the code, purchased the set used, or if you simply don't feel like searching through your files to find it. To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV. To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. Good Luck
