Question about Cozy (W352E) Heater
Can you please walk us through some troubleshooting to help get the thermostat to concect with our heater?
Yes, I can walk you through the steps to see if the T-stat is faulty or not. Just follow my steps.Make sure that 1st, the pilot is on. If not, it will not send signal to T-stat. So, if it is on, go to the T-stat. You will need a small screw driver maybe slotted or phillips. Remove the front cover. You will now be looking at the 2nd part which is the thermostat. There will be several screws on it spread around that you will need to loosen all the way up. Note: No danger of shock as it is a millivlot system, No power source only less then a volt. Anyway, remove this section. You will now see the sub-base and wires. For a wall furnace you should have only 2 wires, a red and a white unless it was changed years ago. If you have a piece of insulated wire lying around, even speaker wire or scrap electrical wire is what you will need. Once you get this and both ends are bare, touch across the two terminals and hold them there. It will fire right up if the heater is ok, pilot on and now main burners on. If this happens, you will need a new thermostat. You have just by-passed it to check the heater and if it came on we know the T-stat is faulty, very easy. If this was it, go to a hardware store and get a heat stat milivolt only! Even though a 24 volt programmable heat/cool stat will work, it will start causing problems, so please don't let them talk you into this! Trust me on this. If the pilot was on and it didn't fire up, check wiring at gas valve and make sure it is tight. Up above toward the top of furnace, if it did not fire only, you can remove the entire cover, may have 2 screws at bottom and will lift out of a grove at top to remove, You should see a round switch with a blk wire in and out the other side. This is a high limit safety that will shut off furnace if there is a problem and the heater keeps running when you are not home. Its job will be to open contacts to shut down main gas vale to save you're home. If you have done all I have asked you to do, and nothing, put t-stat back together, make sure pilot is lit and touch wire on this limit from one side to other. If it fires up, the limit is bad. This you will need to buy at a appliance parts store. I am 99.99% sure it is the stat. Please keep me posted by my user name. Good Luck,
PS, If all fails, and pilot does stay on, you will last but not least have a faulty (MGV) :((
