your problem might not be the thermostat it might be a dirty pilot or a weak thermopile... check your milivolt reading at the valve you should have at least 400 with an open circut 250 closed,,,, or te valve won't open.... if you have a dirty pilot you can tell the flame will look lazy and yellow... to clean it you must remove the orifice and clean it with a tiny wire or wd40.....do not reem orifice to big it needs to be tiny or you;ll have to replace it...

Yes, I can walk you through the steps to see if the T-stat is faulty or not. Just follow my steps.Make sure that 1st, the pilot is on. If not, it will not send signal to T-stat. So, if it is on, go to the T-stat. You will need a small screw driver maybe slotted or phillips. Remove the front cover. You will now be looking at the 2nd part which is the thermostat. There will be several screws on it spread around that you will need to loosen all the way up. Note: No danger of shock as it is a millivlot system, No power source only less then a volt. Anyway, remove this section. You will now see the sub-base and wires. For a wall furnace you should have only 2 wires, a red and a white unless it was changed years ago. If you have a piece of insulated wire lying around, even speaker wire or scrap electrical wire is what you will need. Once you get this and both ends are bare, touch across the two terminals and hold them there. It will fire right up if the heater is ok, pilot on and now main burners on. If this happens, you will need a new thermostat. You have just by-passed it to check the heater and if it came on we know the T-stat is faulty, very easy. If this was it, go to a hardware store and get a heat stat milivolt only! Even though a 24 volt programmable heat/cool stat will work, it will start causing problems, so please don't let them talk you into this! Trust me on this. If the pilot was on and it didn't fire up, check wiring at gas valve and make sure it is tight. Up above toward the top of furnace, if it did not fire only, you can remove the entire cover, may have 2 screws at bottom and will lift out of a grove at top to remove, You should see a round switch with a blk wire in and out the other side. This is a high limit safety that will shut off furnace if there is a problem and the heater keeps running when you are not home. Its job will be to open contacts to shut down main gas vale to save you're home. If you have done all I have asked you to do, and nothing, put t-stat back together, make sure pilot is lit and touch wire on this limit from one side to other. If it fires up, the limit is bad. This you will need to buy at a appliance parts store. I am 99.99% sure it is the stat. Please keep me posted by my user name. Good Luck,
Shastalaker7
PS, If all fails, and pilot does stay on, you will last but not least have a faulty (MGV) :((

Hi, It is possible it could be the 750 thermopile generator, but if the pilot does stay lit, the generator is sending the correct amount of voltage to the t-stat and gas valve.

Cozy wall furnace (propane) does not respond to thermostat. The pilot is lit. Furnace is 3 yrs. old and rarely works. The wire to thermostat is 20 feet.

Try jumping the two thermostat wires together to see if the heater starts. If so, replace your thermostat. If not, jump the two terminals where the thermosta twires attach to the furnace. If it starts, you have a bad thermostat wire or connection.

What is easy way to replace the thermostate in

Hi, that thermostat should be a wall mount. This heater has only 2 wires and any "Heat only", "millivolt" thermostat will work. Remove the old T-Stat and mount the new one on the wall, only 2 wires and less than a volt so no shock danger, doesn't even matter which wire goes where. Good luck and comment back if you need any help.

If the unit has a wall thermostat, remove one of the wires from the thermostat. If the unit stops it indicates a bad thermostat. If it continues to heat, remove one of the wires coming from the thermostat going to the gas valve inside the heater. If it continues to heat you have a bad gas valve. If the heater shuts off, you have a bad thermostat wire (short).

My Cozy heater does not respond on the thermostat control

Make sure you have a stat that is for a millivolt system, if the stat you have has 24v on it wrong one, need to purchase at a heating wholesaler home depot lowes do not carry them. The stat should have mv for millivolts on the box or stat.

There isn't much to these things, its either the pilot generator or the gas valve. Or maybe both, try the first, then the second.
