Question about HP Photosmart C5280 Printer
Lift the printer cover. undo the 2 screws (torx head). remove the right hand end of the printer casing.
You will see a blavck plastic moulding with a couple of gears (it controls the cartridge cleaning). This is the cause of your jam - it is out of sync. Turn the machine on and watch what happens with this moulding you will see what I mean by out of sync and it can just be gently pushed back into alignment. Once it is ok turn the unit off and then on again and your jam should be cleared. Put it back together again and print away.

When i print form my hp photosmart c5280 printer scnner and copier it gives icon idecation carriage jam

The carriage is the piece that holds your cartridges and moves them left to right in your printer. If you have a carriage jam than this can be caused by removeable debris (paper, staples, etc) or it can be an internal error.
Follow this document from hp to see if it is possible to remove the cause of the jam.

Make sure to check all the way to the right and left inside. I ussually find paper loose in either of those ends. Then check your encoder strip which is the plastic strip that the carriage slides on. This may be dirty causing this issue. Use a soft paper towel and alcohol. Windex is okay to but may leave streaks on it and give same issue.
