LIftmaster light flickers but won't open garage door
Photo eye is aligned and isn't blocked, but it will not turn on the light when you interrupt the beam.
The wall switch causes a short hum, the light flickers, but the motor dosen't engage.

Check to see if your child/animal security beam is working correctly. It is an "Electric Eye" mounted about 12 in off of the floor on two mounting points and one side shoots an infra red beam across to a receiver. These points must be reasonably aligned to flash a beam (cannot see) from one point to another. This beam keeps the door open if it is interrupted . If it is not aligned, then the door opener sees a problem and will not close the door electrically. You must aligned the beam by bending the transmitter or receiver untill you can close the door by the remote. Also check to see if something placed in the garage is not blocking the beam first.
The color of your door sensors is normal. Make sure they are pointed at one another and that one of the lights isn't flickering. If the main light is not flashing when the door starts to come down you may need to increase the down force just a tad. It is an adjustment on the rear of the motor unit.
I assume you have a Craftsman or Liftmaster operator and you are talking about the photo eyes (sensors). If this is true thanone light will remain on if there is power to it and the other will go out when the photo eye beam is blocked or are not lined up.
Thank you for your your question bry4man. I look forward to answering any more of your questions.
It has the "Protector System" (safety sensors). chec the
sensor indicator light on the receivinng eye the green light had a
slight flicker.cleaned both the sending eye and receiving eye lens
of dust and cob webs, then realigned the receiving sensor for a steady
green indicator light. then check the door function it now works
fine.over time, temperature, and viberation the sensors become
dirty and get out of alignment, as no one had tampered with the sensor
alignment prior to this. Hope this works for you.
