Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

LIftmaster light flickers but won't open garage door

Photo eye is aligned and isn't blocked, but it will not turn on the light when you interrupt the beam.
The wall switch causes a short hum, the light flickers, but the motor dosen't engage.

Also there is an l.e.d. light flickering next to a red push button near the limit controls. Five flashes, pause five flashes, pause (I think)

It might be the remote code settingsbut I never noticed it before.

I checked all the wiring connections at the photo sensors and at the logic board. All seem ok, most wire is behind drywall. I have some cat6 I'll try to make a temporary junper with but re-wiring the sesnsors seems difficult. There are moulded plugs into a socket on each side.

The logic board might be bad anyway.

What does five flashes mean from the led light next to the red code program button?

    Thanks

I had the same problem. 5 flashes means the motor overheated or the trolley is stuck against the limit screw (the problem in my case). The solution was to create a little slack in the chain by loosening a nut on the trolley carrier and then lowering the door after resetting the unit by unplugging and replugging the power cord. I turned the height adjustment screw so that the door doesn't raise quite as much, so it stops several inches from the limit screw that's mounted to the rail close to the motor unit.

One of your sensors is moving and you need to find out why and correct it. The light flickers when the sensor is on the edge of the beam sent by the other sensor. Think of it as a flashlight.

My garage doesn't come down

The color of your door sensors is normal. Make sure they are pointed at one another and that one of the lights isn't flickering. If the main light is not flashing when the door starts to come down you may need to increase the down force just a tad. It is an adjustment on the rear of the motor unit.

Sensor light

I assume you have a Craftsman or Liftmaster operator and you are talking about the photo eyes (sensors). If this is true thanone light will remain on if there is power to it and the other will go out when the photo eye beam is blocked or are not lined up.

Thank you for your your question bry4man. I look forward to answering any more of your questions.

Programing limits on a Grifco MK3 Garage door Operator

It has the "Protector System" (safety sensors). chec the sensor indicator light on the receivinng eye the green light had a slight flicker.cleaned both the sending eye and receiving eye lens of dust and cob webs, then realigned the receiving sensor for a steady green indicator light. then check the door function it now works fine.over time, temperature, and viberation the sensors become dirty and get out of alignment, as no one had tampered with the sensor alignment prior to this. Hope this works for you.
